The Novel Bean

The Novel Bean Small batch custom coffee roasting. Bringing fresh coffee to Southwest Phoenix and the world. I want to prove that to you.

It all started when I was buying expensive coffee and noticing it tasted stale. I discovered that how fresh the coffee is makes much more of a difference than what beans you use. Cheap beans from Columbia or Mexico that were roasted yesterday are SO much better than even Hawaiian beans that have been sitting on the shelf for 6 months.

Last of the Costa Rican Tarrazu roasted tonight. Have I mentioned how much I love Costa Rican coffee? It is so good. Should I get more if I can?
Right now, I have:
Organic Ethiopian
Nicaragua Geisha
Guatemalan
Mexican
Tiny bit of Kenyan, maybe enough for a half pound.
What should I get next? If you ever wanted to try coffee from somewhere specific, let me know, and I'll get some for you.

Current stock: Guatemalan, Kenyan, Ethiopian, Mexican, still a little bit of Columbian, and this. Coffee has a number of varietals, which are like subspecies. Common ones are bourbon, caturra, catui, and others. And then there’s Geisha, or Gesha. Originally developed in Ethiopia. It’s special. If you follow the high end coffee world, the very best coffees are almost all geisha. They can be very expensive. Not long ago I saw where some geisha from a specific farm in Panama sold for over $700/pound. This is not so crazy. In fact, this farm in Nicaragua sells this for about the same as any other beans. I just roasted some for me, and just waiting for it to rest a few days before I try it. Anyone want to try it with me? Send me a message if you want a bag.

There are some claims online about coffee having harmful levels of molds and mycotoxins. However, this is not supported by science.

Also, the Papua New Guinea Peaberry is gone. It was not as good as the Kenya Peaberry, but still pretty good. Oh, and the Kenya is gone too. What beans should I get next? Any requests?
