In centrifugal casting, consistency depends on more than rotational speed. Mould condition, proper preheating, pouring temperature, and controlled cooling all influence how the metal flows and solidifies.

Less machining may be possible. Zero machining should not be assumed.

Centrifugal casting can help improve material utilization and, in suitable applications, reduce the amount of excess material that must be removed during finishing.

But machining is still often part of the process.

Final dimensions, surface requirements, mating surfaces, bores, faces, and other features may still require machining. The appropriate machining allowance depends on the casting geometry, material, size, tolerances, and final application.

That is why machining allowance should be considered as part of the complete casting process—not treated as a single number that applies to every part.

Not every centrifugal casting application is best suited for a horizontal setup. The geometry should help decide.

CCMCO vertical centrifugal casting machines may be considered when the part geometry and process requirements are better suited to a vertical orientation.

Rings, bushings, sleeves, short cylindrical components, and parts with a larger diameter relative to their length are examples where a vertical setup may be considered.

Choosing between horizontal and vertical centrifugal casting should not start with the machine. It should start with the part you need to produce and its process requirements.
