We’re proud to share that Janet Cherbak, PLA, is now an ISA Certified Arborist!

Becoming an ISA Certified Arborist requires demonstrated knowledge across several areas of arboriculture, including tree biology, identification, selection, installation, maintenance, and management. Janet now brings that added expertise to her work as a Landscape Architect at GHA, adding to the range of knowledge we provide to our clients as project needs continue to evolve.

Congratulations Janet!

Congratulations to Isabella Anfuso, winner of GHA’s 2026 Annual Intern Presentations!

Each summer, our interns put together presentations highlighting their work and experiences at GHA. Three are selected to present companywide, giving employees the opportunity to hear what they learned before voting for the presentation that best captured their internship experience.

Each finalist brings their own creative approach to the Intern Presentations, finding a different way to share their summer experience. Isabella shared a Water Resources Survival Guide, Kaydence Wesson told her story through Civil Design mood boards, and Ryan Lerman took a game-inspired look at his third summer with GHA.

Since 1985, GHA’s internship program has given students opportunities to learn through hands-on project experience. It’s Real Experience that creates Real Impact. Learn more about our internship program: https://ow.ly/gs2j50Zz2az

Happy National Pickleball Day!

Pickleball continues to grow in communities across the country, creating new opportunities for parks and recreation agencies to expand their facilities. Designing a successful pickleball court goes beyond the playing surface. Site selection, drainage, lighting, accessibility, and long-term maintenance all contribute to a facility that serves players and the community well.

GHA's Emerging Professionals Network (EPN) recently spoke with students in the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Summer Program, a partnership between the YCC and the Lake County Forest Preserves that provides young people with conservation experience, education, and career exploration opportunities.

The discussion highlighted GHA's internship program, careers in civil engineering, GIS, and the many ways engineers help shape and improve the communities where we live and work. Thank you to the YCC Summer Program for the opportunity to meet with this year's participants.
