We are asked from time to time if installing an Electroair system will void either a Lycoming or Continental warranty. The short answer is NO. There was a law passed in the 1970s that prohibits OEMs from cancelling or otherwise voiding their warranty if a consumer installs an aftermarket part. It does allow for the OEM to investigate a failure and IF the aftermarket part can be proven to be the cause of the failure, then the OEM can deny a warranty claim. The key part there is that the OEM has the burden of proof.

Had a nice call with David M. the other day about his dual Electroair system in his Lake. He saves close to two gallons per hour and a noticeably smoother engine. Here are some pictures of his aircraft and Electroair installation. Pretty cool trolly system for bringing his Lake onto land. Check out the video. I told him that it would make many people jealous!

In case you didn't see this article, it is a great history lesson on the growth of Experimental aircraft and in particular the kit industry. I would refer to this era as the beginning of the "heady days" of experimental aviation, which probably peaked in the mid to late 90s. Electroair began life in 1992 exclusively serving this community. We are very proud of our legacy in the experimental world and proud to continue to meet the ignition needs of many.

Airplane Picture Thursday!

We received this note from Hossein sharing some things about his recent install of an Electroair system in his Cessna 150:

"Hi Darrel, Rick and Nick.
Hossein A is here with the Cessna 150G,
I want to thank you for your support, great customer service and seamless installation.
I have been flying the plane for about 2 weeks/12hrs now.
It runs super smooth, starting up great and fly strong in Las Vegas high desert condition.
Before installing of Electroair E-magnito, I was burning about 6+ gallons per hour. Since the installing of the Electroair with close measuring and candid observation, I am consistently burning 4.25 gallons an hour, not counting the run up and taxing! A whopping 1.75 gallons/hr saving on Fuel!
Mind you that all these 12 hrs were consist average of 8 landing and take-off, not so much cruising!
I am truly a happy customer!

Recently, the University of North Dakota (UND) released a Safety Analysis of the Bendix Single Drive, Dual Magneto. This analysis reviewed NTSB Accident records as they related to the dual magneto to learn more about the accident causes and if there were specific trends. I have always known the dual mag was problematic at best, and most likely very dangerous at worst. The results of this study were eye opening to me.
