Welding has a funny way of making simple things sound complicated.

You’re not just joining two pieces of metal. You’re managing heat, controlling the process, understanding the material, and making sure the finished weld does what it’s supposed to do.

And somewhere along the way, somebody decided all of that needed its own vocabulary.

Fair enough.

We put together a Welding Terminology Guide to explain some of the words you’ll hear around the shop, without making you feel like you need a degree in metallurgy to understand them.

Because the work is complicated enough. The terminology doesn’t have to be.

Power generation starts long before the turbine turns.

Most people never think about the manufacturing behind a power plant. They see electricity. They don't see the thousands of pounds of steel that have to be cut, formed, welded, machined, inspected, and documented before any of it goes into service.

That's the part we appreciate.

Power generation equipment isn't built with shortcuts. It demands heavy plate fabrication, tight tolerances, proven weld procedures, and quality built for harsh operating conditions and long service cycles.

At Weldall, we've built large, complex fabrications for utility-scale transformer components, hydroelectric projects, heavy ductwork, and other critical energy infrastructure. It's the kind of work that's rarely in the spotlight, but it's the foundation these projects rely on.

If you manufacture equipment for the power generation industry or simply want to understand what goes into building it, we've put together a resource that walks through the process.

If you have never spent time around welders, welding terminology can sound like a completely different language.

But to the people who build bridges, power plants, heavy equipment, and countless other critical structures, every term has an important meaning.

Every trade has its own language, and welding is no different.

That is why we have a Welding Terminology resource. It breaks down common welding terms into plain English, making it easier to understand the work happening behind the hood.

Whether you are new to fabrication, brushing up on the basics, or simply curious about welding, it is a great place to start.

Weldall builds the kind of things most people never think about.

Heavy weldments. Custom-fabricated assemblies. The infrastructure that gives tomorrow's technology a place to exist.

Turns out AI might be pretty smart... but it still needs a whole lot of steel underneath it. ⚙️

We're proud to help build the foundation behind the next generation of technology.

We’re proud to recognize Brian, one of our employees, for completing his 13th Scenic Shore Bike Tour in support of Blood Cancer United.

The 2 day ride travels from Mequon to Sturgeon Bay and raises funds and awareness for blood cancer research and patient support. This year, Brian completed 100 miles on the first day, including the extra Century Loop, and 75 miles on the second day.

Congratulations Brian!
We’re proud to support you and a cause that makes such a meaningful difference.

Everybody loves showing off a perfect weld.

Nobody posts the three hours they spent grinding off spatter afterward.

Funny how that part never makes Instagram.

Metal Core Arc Welding doesn't get much credit for making life easier after the trigger's released. Less cleanup. Higher deposition rates. More time building parts instead of cleaning up the evidence.

Turns out productivity isn't always about buying another million-dollar machine. Sometimes it's just choosing a process that creates less work in the first place.

If your welding process is creating more cleanup than production, it might be time for a different conversation.

The cloud is not floating.

It is sitting in a building, pulling a serious amount of power, depending on infrastructure most people never think about.

Before a data center can process anything, somebody has to build the power generation systems, supports, steel assemblies, and fabricated components that help keep it running.

That is not magic.
That is manufacturing.

At Weldall, we support power generation with heavy fabrication, precision welding, and custom steel assemblies built for demanding industrial environments.
