The strength of a truss comes from its shape.

Butler Manufacturing Truss Purlins XT™ use an open-web triangular design to distribute roof loads through the system while reducing unnecessary structural weight.

That design supports spans up to 60 feet, helps create more usable space below, and can weigh up to 36% less than conventional bar joists across typical bay conditions.

For large commercial buildings, that combination provides strength, flexibility, and dependable long-term roof support.

During the basement excavation at the Apple Creek Bank site, the Freeman Building Systems team uncovered four large sections of concrete on the property.

This discovery is a great example of how a construction project can sometimes be a series of conflict resolutions. Something unexpected is uncovered, the team determines how it affects the project, and works through the best solution to keep the work moving forward.

These foundations will be removed from the site, and basement excavation has continued.

Kyle Swires has spent the past 10 years helping keep projects moving, building trust with clients, and supporting Freeman’s growth through the work he leads on the jobsite.

As superintendent, Kyle oversees the daily schedule, coordinates subcontractors, addresses decisions in the field, and helps maintain the safety and quality expected throughout the project.

The role requires expertise, dedication, and an understanding of how each decision on the job site affects the project.

Congratulations on 10 years with Freeman, Kyle. We appreciate everything you have contributed to our team and clients.

A client-first approach in commercial construction means taking the time to understand what the owner needs the facility to accomplish.

Every project presents multiple paths forward, and each has different implications for cost, design, and long-term performance. When alignment is established from the start, the result is a project that reflects the client’s goals and not a predetermined solution.

Watch Craig Sanders, Vice President of Design, share how these early conversations impact the success of a project. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/D8oTzEl05G8

We’re excited to welcome Jason Simenson to Freeman Building Systems as a Project Manager!

Our project managers serve as a key point of contact for clients throughout the building process. They help keep communication clear, decisions moving, and the many parts of the project aligned from planning through construction.

Jason will play an important role in helping clients understand the design-build process, what decisions are ahead, and how their project is advancing in each phase.

We’re glad to have him on the Freeman team. Welcome, Jason!

Are roof repairs starting to add up?

A leak may begin as a maintenance issue, but the impact can have a ripple effect. Repairs can interrupt operations, put equipment or inventory at risk, and create costs that are difficult to plan around.

When the same problems keep returning, it may be time to look beyond another repair and evaluate whether the current roof system is still supporting the building the way it should.

The Butler MR-24® Roof System can be used on new construction or installed as a reroof on an existing facility. It gives building owners an option designed for long-term performance and the operation beneath it.

“I’ve never seen someone be as open to a customer as Dan Freeman,” says Steve Lenhart, Lead Estimator.

Every construction project involves decisions along the way. Costs may shift, a detail may need to be reworked, or the client’s needs may evolve as the project moves forward.

What matters is addressing those changes early and clearly. When information is shared as it develops, the client can understand their options, evaluate the impact, and make decisions before those changes begin directing the project.

Steve shares more about Dan’s approach to client communication in this video:

Freeman Building Systems grew through clients who were willing to trust a young company with an important investment.

Without a long list of completed projects to reference, Dan Freeman and the team had to demonstrate that trust through involvement, clear communication, and a commitment to stay engaged throughout the build.

Many of those early opportunities led to repeat projects, referrals, and relationships that have continued for years. They also helped shape how Freeman approaches projects today.

Clients are choosing more than a construction company. They are choosing the team they will rely on through months of planning, decisions, coordination, and problem-solving.

In this Q&A, Dan Freeman shares more about the early opportunities that helped build Freeman Building Systems and the lessons that continue to guide our work:

For over a century, zoning has been shaping how communities develop and grow.

Originally formed to separate land uses such as residential, commercial, and industrial, zoning today acts as a framework to guide how land can be used and how areas expand over time.

While it can feel restrictive sometimes, regulation plays an important role in long-term city planning.
