They say robotics is all about problem-solving. Well, yesterday we got a little more practice than we bargained for.
With our first competition less than a month away, our BearBots build team discovered we were missing two mounting brackets. No big deal, right? Just order them.
Estimated delivery: 5–10 days.
Fantastic. Because nothing says “competition season” quite like waiting a week and a half for two tiny pieces of metal while the clock is ticking.
So, with our build schedule hanging in the balance, we decided to take a shot in the dark and reach out to our friends at Marauder Robotics.
Enter Jeff.
Not only did Jeff respond, but he invited us down to their lab to see what they had. And his response was essentially, “Come on down. If we’ve got something that’ll help you, it’s yours.”
We went looking for two brackets and walked away with something much bigger: a reminder of what makes the robotics community so special.
Because sometimes it takes more than a team to build a robot. Sometimes it takes a village. A village full of engineers, mentors, coaches, students, spare parts, and people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.
It’s moments like this remind us that we’re all on the same team when it really matters.
A HUGE shoutout to Jeff and everyone at Marauder Robotics! You didn’t just help us out of a jam. You showed our students firsthand what gracious professionalism looks like in action.
And that’s a lesson worth more than any mounting bracket.
This is what FIRST robotics is all about. Teams helping teams. People helping people. And making sure nobody gets left behind because of two pieces of metal.
Thank you, Marauder Robotics.
Build. Compete. Inspire.
