Myhal, Sr., brought 20 years of rubber industry experience with him when he established TMI in 1984. Having worked in molding, compounding, and as a design engineer of specialty rubber hoses and couplings with a leading manufacturer, he had a solid foundation to build the new company on. His son, Michael J. Myhal, Jr., was one of his first employees, eventually becoming TMI’s President in 1996. Co
nsistently delivering the highest-precision components in a vast variety of materials for industries such as aerospace, transportation, medicine and electronics led to steady growth for TMI. In 2000, the company moved to a larger facility, centrally located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh – an area brimming with rubber industry expertise and technological advancement. Another expansion in 2006 added an additional 10,000 sq. to our manufacturing area. Michael Myhal
Did you know Michael gave up studying Medicine in 1984 to help his father start the company? That’s just the first example of his huge commitment to TMI, which of course continues to this day. Early on he made responsiveness his top priority, doing whatever it took to minimize lead times. This helped our customers boost responsiveness with their own customers, and helped cement TMI’s solid reputation. In fact, he’s helped grow TMI’s share of customer purchases from 10% to today’s figure of 85-90%! Michael took over as President when his father retired in 1996 and moved the company to our current (and larger) location in 2000. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar for a regional country band and operates a full service recording studio.
