Growing a sustainable future at Ivanplats
Ivanplats advances biodiversity and ecosystem initiatives to strengthen our communities and environment.
At our New Horizon pilot site, we established a fully operational nursery growing indigenous plants like Marula, Shepherd’s Tree, Camel Thorn, and Grey Camel Thorn. We’ve also cleared invasive plants and made biochar.

We’ve trained 24 local youth in biodiversity management, nursery operations, and environmental awareness, building skills while preparing the land for future rehabilitation.

It also features a Mini Rehabilitation Centre for physical conditioning, injury management, and structured return-to-work programs. Even in high-heat environments, we’ve got it covered. Our Heat Tolerance Screening Centre ensures employees stay fit and safe on the job.

Ivanplats is adding Enduron high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGRs) to its Phase 2 expansion to enhance the concentrator’s tertiary crushing circuit. HPGR technology is a proven solution in modern mining, offering energy-efficient comminution and consuming up to 40% less energy than traditional tumbling mills. This reduces operating costs while also lowering carbon emissions.

Keeping our learners safe on the road

Keeping kids safe shouldn’t stop at the school gates. That’s why Ivanplats kicked off a new road safety initiative in Mokopane, working with six schools where the roads are busy, and the risks are real.

We’ve put up new road safety signs, handed out reflective gear, and given scholar patrols the tools they need to help students cross safely. It’s all about making kids more visible and giving everyone, students, parents, and drivers, a reason to slow down and pay attention.

Every child deserves a safe journey to and from school.

• Underground infrastructure and key shafts progressing on schedule
• Major increases in hoisting capacity underway as part of Phase 1 and Phase 2 development
• Shaft #3 set to boost hoisting capability significantly
• Underground development levels advancing towards planned milestones, supporting future expansion and improved material movement
• Development of surface facilities is ongoing
• Expansion engineering is continuing across the site
