Today, the UJ PEETS Energy Unit had the privilege of presenting at the Mpumalanga Local Economic Development (LED) Forum, where the team delivered a presentation on "From Strategy to Implementation: Advancing Energy Efficiency and Solar Readiness in Mpumalanga."

The presentation explored practical pathways for translating energy policies and strategic objectives into implementable solutions that strengthen energy efficiency, accelerate solar adoption, and support sustainable local economic development across the province.

As South Africa continues its energy transition, bridging the gap between planning and implementation is essential. Forums such as these provide valuable opportunities for government, industry, academia, and development partners to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and identify practical solutions that create lasting impact.

Addressing complex environmental and industrial challenges requires collaboration across multiple sectors. Effective solutions are strengthened when academia, industry, government and practitioners come together to exchange knowledge, share technical expertise and discuss practical approaches to addressing current and emerging challenges.

At UJ PEETS, this collaborative approach underpins the workshops, Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) and industry training initiatives we facilitate throughout the year. From the Second Life Lithium-Ion Battery Workshop, Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) End User Training, and Solar PV Hybrid Design & Installation System Training, to specialised programmes in water, energy, air quality and the circular economy, our initiatives provide platforms for knowledge exchange, skills development and professional collaboration.

These engagements contribute to building technical capacity, strengthening partnerships and supporting the development of practical solutions that can be applied across industry and communities.
