Lighting is often the first upgrade a building makes, because it is quick to install, easy to measure and immediately visible to the people who use the space. Modern fittings draw a fraction of the power of what they replace, and controls make sure light appears where it is needed rather than everywhere at once. Corridors, car parks and back-of-house areas usually hold the largest gains, simply because nobody has looked at them for years. Etihad ESCO treats lighting as the foundation of a wider efficiency programme rather than the end of one.
