We’re pleased to share strong progress across the Barwon South West Inland Routes Pavement Rehabilitation Upgrades for the Department of Transport and Planning — a project focused on improving safety, durability, and regional connectivity across three key corridors:

• Timboon – Colac Road
• Colac – Forrest Road
• Deans Marsh – Lorne Road

Major works at all sites are now complete, with sealing and line marking finalised.

This project represents a fantastic achievement for our team and a significant investment in the long-term performance of critical regional roads. A big thank you to everyone involved for their commitment to quality, safety, and delivery.

Onward and upward — building stronger connections across the region.

👏 Well done, Simon! 👏

We’re extremely proud to celebrate Simon Young for his outstanding fundraising effort in support of Fight MND, finishing as the campaign’s top fundraiser and raising over $40,000 towards finding a cure for the Beast. 💙

As part of an incredible community effort, the Bairnsdale Football Netball Club smashed their target, raising more than $200,000 — their biggest tally to date and the largest DIY community event outside of the MCG for the second year running. An outstanding achievement.

A special shoutout to Vicky Waddell for coordinating such an event — your dedication made it all happen.

And of course, we can’t forget Simon’s moment… dressed as Aquaman and taking on the slide. 🦸‍♂️

An effort we’re proud to be part of — well done to everyone involved.

Whelans Group is proud to support the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND) with a generous donation to Simon Young’s Big Freeze campaign, part of the fundraiser hosted by the Bairnsdale Football Netball Club.

As one of this year’s Big Freeze sliders, Simon is helping raise vital awareness and funds for MND research, supported by a dedicated team. Our own Vicky Waddell has played a key role in coordinating the event.

We’re honoured to support a cause that funds research and supports those living with MND. Every dollar raised makes a difference.

Join the Bairnsdale Redlegs for a great day of football, community spirit, and fundraising.

We’re pleased to welcome Bailey Woods as our new Quarry Manager, who has recently commenced with us.

Bailey brings extensive experience in quarry management, along with strong industry knowledge that will support our ongoing operations and growth. He’s enthusiastic about stepping into the role and is looking forward to connecting with our crews and gaining a deeper understanding of our sites.

Bailey is also a valued and respected committee member of the The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA), supporting quarry development and growth across the industry, and helping promote greater awareness of the important role quarries play in our communities.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our quarry teams who will be happy to assist.

Please join us in welcoming Bailey to the team.

There’s nothing quite like an early start out on the road… and Alf, our float operator, knows it better than anyone.

Captured here hauling a solid load through the rolling hills, Alf’s morning run comes with a pretty special backdrop — low fog hanging across the paddocks and the sun breaking through to light the way.

On this trip, Alf was carting a 30t digger from Buchan through to Swan Reach, taking on the winding country roads with precision and care.

With the float loaded up and ready to go, it’s all about patience, experience, and attention to detail behind the wheel. From navigating tight turns to making sure everything is secure and delivered safely, Alf makes it look easy — but we know it’s skill built over years on the job.

These are the moments that remind us why we love what we do: great people, serious gear, and views that never disappoint.

Ready to ride.

We are pleased to have completed the bike track, which forms part of the Specialist School’s Traffic School in Bairnsdale.

It’s fantastic to see students already enjoying the space — building confidence, developing riding skills, and learning important bike and road safety in a fun, inclusive environment.

Photos showing the students enjoying the track have been shared with permission. While the track is already making a positive impact, it will look even better with line marking and signage to be completed in the coming weeks.

A great outcome for the school and the wider community.

Our team recently put their traffic management skills to the test during a simulated practical assessment—an important part of our ongoing commitment to safety and staff development.

Real-world scenarios like these give our crew the opportunity to build confidence, sharpen decision-making, and ensure they’re ready for anything the job throws their way.

We’re proud to continue investing in our people, because a well-trained team is key to delivering safe, reliable outcomes for our clients and community.
