Be Prepared pays off! When a local school pulled out of a once in a lifetime NASA radio contact with just three weeks to go, Scouts from the Wodonga area stepped up.

12 Scouts got to ask questions of Eagle Scout and NASA Astronaut Chris Williams Ph.D, live aboard the International Space Station. One of only 60-100 such contacts made worldwide each year, and very few happen in Australia.

Always being ready to act and Being Prepared has earned these Scouts an excellent experience and a very cool 'two truths and a lie' story for years to come.

A Digital Selective Calling (DSC) distress call is a digital emergency alert sent at the press of a single button — fast, simple, and potentially life-saving.

🔎 What does DSC actually do?
With one press, it can transmit:
• Your MMSI number
• Your GPS position (on compatible radios)
• The time of the alert
• The type of distress (if selected)

🌟 Important: A DSC distress call should only be used when immediate assistance is required.
