Australia’s energy transition isn’t just about what we build today. It’s about the energy system we leave for the next generation.
That was a strong theme for us at All Energy Australia Exhibition & Conference today.
Opening the conversation, Brett Watson highlighted the need to set our grids and energy systems up for the next 30 years, without leaving future generations to carry the cost. Energy security, he argued, needs to be a national priority.
Later, Peter Halliday joined Luke Menzel to explore what a confident and optimistic path forward can look like: improving energy efficiency, accelerating decarbonization and using technology to help the grid respond to the increasing demands and fluctuations created by renewables, data centers and electrification.
We also saw the future in action at the Siemens–Swinburne Energy Transition Hub stand, with grid simulation models showing how the pieces of an increasingly electrified energy system can come together, particularly as electric vehicles become a bigger part of the equation.
There’s no single answer to the energy transition. But with the right technology, collaboration and long-term thinking, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic.
