Recent observations highlight insufficient traffic control resources on site. We’ve witnessed situations where a single traffic controller is managing multiple conflicting traffic flows, including heavy vehicle movements impacting live public traffic lanes. This creates unnecessary risk for workers, plant operators, and the public.

From a traffic management perspective, this is preventable.

Proper planning, adequate resourcing, and site-specific Traffic Management Plans are essential.

Last Friday at Workzone, we brought together our office staff, training team, and traffic controllers from site for an all-in toolbox meeting and pizza.

It was a great chance to step away from day-to-day operations, connect as one team, and share updates and site experiences across the business.

Toolbox meetings play a vital role in how we operate. They help us:
✔ Align on safety expectations
✔ Share site hazards and updates
✔ Improve communication between office and field teams
✔ Capture lessons learned from recent jobs
✔ Reinforce compliance and traffic control procedures
✔ Ensure every team member has a voice

When we’re on the same page, we work safer and more efficiently. Thanks to everyone who took the time to come together and contribute to safer worksites.

Are you ready for the transition to the new National Training Framework before the deadline on 1 February 2027?

There are only 8 months left to complete the required updated training.

A friendly reminder there are only 8 months remaining to transition to the new National Training Framework before the deadline on 1 February 2027.

✔ You have until 𝟭 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 to complete the updated training
✔ 𝗡𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 will be granted under the national framework
✔ Without the updated qualification, you cannot continue working in a TTM role after 1 February 2027

Every day, crews across Australia work in high-risk environments to build and maintain our roads. Fatality Free Friday is a powerful reminder that every journey, especially through work zones, requires focus, patience, and care.

𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝟭𝟯𝟭𝟰 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁. 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆𝘀.

This initiative by the Australian Road Safety Foundation challenges all of us to achieve one goal: no lives lost on our roads for one day.

This week, our office team stepped away from their desks and joined our Field Support Officers out on site to spend time with our traffic controllers in action.

It was a valuable opportunity to see firsthand the incredible work being delivered on the ground, and to gain a deeper appreciation for the effort, skill, and focus that goes into delivering safe and successful traffic management every day.

One team, working side by side, supporting each other to deliver safe, efficient outcomes. This is the Workzone Way.

A big thank you to our traffic controllers and clients on site for the time, insights, and warm welcome.

This week, Workzone’s Andrew White joined fellow TMAA Board members in Brisbane, alongside the current President and four former Presidents, for the start of a two-day strategy and planning session.

Their main focus: ensuring the Traffic Management Association of Australia is well positioned to continue supporting their members, the industry, and communities they serve.

Today, on Mother’s Day, we take a moment to recognise, thank, and celebrate the mothers, mother figures, mentors, and role models who guide, support, and inspire us.

We also acknowledge that this day can be difficult for some. Whether you are missing your mum, spending the day without a mother figure, or experiencing it in your own personal way, our thoughts are with you as well.

To everyone who nurtures, teaches, and cares for others in any capacity, we honour and appreciate you today.
