Every house moves a little over time. Ground shifts, timber settles, the weather heats things up and cools them down. Render on its own doesn’t flex much, so when the house moves, that’s when cracks start showing up.
That’s why our MG Construction Group team puts a mesh layer in before the final coats go on. The mesh is bedded into the base coat and acts like reinforcement, spreading out the stress so the render can handle that natural movement without cracking.
It’s an extra step, and plenty of people skip it. But it’s the difference between a finish that looks great on handover day and one that still looks great ten years later.
