Some renovations are more complicated than they look — this Double Bay penthouse is a good example.
The brief meant a full strip-out: every wall and ceiling removed and reconfigured, with the original timber floors kept, sanded and re-stained. Curved openings carry through the kitchen, bathrooms and living spaces in micro cement — a finish that takes real precision to get right.
Access was the trickiest part. With only one crane lift available for the kitchen island and other oversized pieces, everything else had to come up through the building itself — all while keeping the neighbours happy throughout.
The result speaks for itself, and we're proud it came together on time and on budget, working alongside a great team of clients, architects and designers.

Excavated into the hillside in front of the upper pavilions are three circular guest pods, each with ensuite facilities, providing complete privacy for visitors. Large curved glass and hardwood timber framed glass doors can slide away to open each to the outdoor setting.

The interiors throughout the house are finely finished with a variety of materials. Bamboo panelling, plaster walls, stonework and hardwood timbers lining the floors and ceilings provide an aesthetic mixture of Australian and Asian living.

🏊 Yoohoo did you hear? We did it again! Horizon has been named a finalist in Concrete Pools ($200,001 & Over) at the Master Builders Excellence in Housing & Pool Awards, for our Dover Heights Residence III project.

The brief called for something a little different — rather than sitting at ground level, this infinity-edge pool lives on the main entertaining terrace, five storeys above the ground, on a steep hillside site overlooking the valley between Bondi, North Bondi and Dover Heights. Engineered to appear as though it merges with the horizon, it anchors the entire outdoor living space.

• A Site Manager/Foreman with proven experience running high-end residential builds
• A Working Foreman who's comfortable managing the site whilst getting hands-on with the tools when required

Both roles require strong leadership, a real focus on safety and quality, and someone who's great at keeping trades communicating and moving.

🏡 We're a finalist (AGAIN)!
Horizon has been named a finalist in Home Unit Renovation ($2 Million & Over) at the Master Builders Excellence in Housing & Pool Awards, for our Potts Point Penthouses II project.

Adding two brand new penthouse levels on top of an occupied 9-storey tower, in the middle of one of Potts Point's busiest streets, is easily one of the most complex projects our team has ever delivered — cantilevered scaffolding, restricted crane windows, a single lift shared with residents, and a build that ran close to two years with the building fully occupied the whole time. And it came together beautifully. 👏

This project in Manly was highly complex as the home occupies the entire compact site, and is situated on a very busy road. To keep public access intact, we cantilevered scaffolding over the footpath to create a pedestrian walkway during construction.

The design includes huge glass panels to take advantage of the stunning ocean views. To safely install this glass, we set up a specialised system – craning a smaller crane into the home. External machinery then passed the smaller crane building materials.

The curved, cantilevered, off-form concrete was extremely specialised and demanded the utmost accuracy on the first attempt. We prototyped the concrete to ensure the highest quality of the finished product.

Glass and aluminium sections were ordered from Europe and still didn't hold up a tight handover date.

The project required extremely strong collaboration and communication with both the architect and engineer throughout.

A complete transformation of a much-loved family home, set against the backdrop of one of Sydney’s most iconic beaches.

The home brings together functionality, warmth and a strong sense of connection to light and space. This was achieved through a refined palette of light-toned timber, tactile micro-cement and a striking skylight.

Every element was carefully considered to create a home that feels both elevated and inviting — a place designed not only to live in, but to grow into and fill with memories.
