A constant frustration on site is receiving bundles with A, B, C and D layer bars all mixed together. The worst cases are when 3–5 bundles of varying bundles are combined into one bundle. Instead of installing steel, our crew spends valuable time measuring and sorting every bar to identify the correct tag and layer.

Please bundle and tag each layer separately—A with A, B with B, C with C, and D with D. Better organisation reduces errors, improves productivity, and keeps projects moving efficiently. Do better🤌

Installing columns isn’t just about getting the cage down. The person guiding the column from underneath has to know exactly what they’re doing. Cover is everything. It’s not enough for the column to simply drop into place — it has to sit within the marks, within the concrete, with correct cover all the way around. Put the wrong person underneath and you’ll end up fixing cover issues or pulling the whole column back out to reinstall it properly. Precision and experience matter in this part of the trade.

Column starter installation — one of the most important stages in our game. If the starters aren’t spot on, the second stage becomes a headache… bending bars, banging steel, cutting and redoing work we should never have to touch.

Getting a column down to the ground takes skill, timing, and experience. Release a few ties, bang a couple bars away from the corners, give it a shake and let the weight of the column do the work. Once it drops into place, tighten everything back up and fix your loose ties. Real steelfixing. 💪
