Just went through an interesting breakdown of Claude Opus 4.7 vs. Claude Mythos. It’s easy to get lost in benchmark scores like SWE-bench, but the real takeaway is the shift from knowledge retrieval to actual ex*****on.

For day-to-day engineering tasks, Opus 4.7 remains a remarkably solid tool for standard problem-solving. Mythos, though, is built for the messy reality of multi-step codebase issues and agentic planning. It really embodies that Kaizen mindset—incrementally improving not just the code, but the entire end-to-end workflow by operating more like an autonomous system than a chatbot.

Basically: Opus tells you how to fix the bug. Mythos actually does the fixing.
