🐁Today is World Day for Laboratory Animals. Millions of animals are used in research and testing every year across pharmaceuticals, chemicals, consumer goods, and beyond. The science of non-animal methods has come a long way. Organotypic cell models, organs-on-chip, advanced computational approaches, and human-relevant in vitro systems are increasingly capable of addressing complex biological questions and are gaining traction with regulators.
Yet adoption remains uneven. Many non-animal methods are still in validation stages. Others exist and are accepted, but underused. The path from method development to regulatory acceptance is long, and resources are not always directed where the science is ready.
At Altertox, we work to close that gap by making the science accessible, the evidence visible, connecting the community and keeping the conversation ongoing.

Last week, our team took a proper breather from our screens and spent the day together. We kicked things off with a full team catch-up, a chance to sit down and hear what everyone's been working on this quarter. Then came the highlight: a visit to BOZAR Brussels for their Bellezza e Bruttezza exhibition, an exploration of beauty and ugliness through art, history, and everything in between. Beauty, apparently, is very much in the eye of the beholder!
