Yesterday (March 24th), West Coast Kit Planes Ltd. stopped in at Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Ltd. for WCKP business. Before the visit, a fellow Murphy builder asked if I could check on the status of his outstanding parts order, so I took the opportunity to inquire while I was there.

The discussion was detailed and constructive, with good alignment on several points related to parts supply and backorder fulfillment. Combined with Murphy Aircraft’s recent public update, the direction appears positive.

WCKP remains committed to supporting the Murphy builder community—sharing information, helping troubleshoot, and keeping communication flowing. We’re optimistic that continued progress will follow from here.

Murphy Update:

We stopped by the factory on Tuesday, Jan 20th to wish the team a (slightly belated) Happy New Year. Good news — they’re open and actively producing parts.

They’ve also brought on a new staff member to help answer phones and ease some of the backlog many of us have been feeling. When you call in, please be patient and respectful as she get up to speed. They’re there to help all of us.

Quick update for everyone:

We’ve had a lot of calls and emails asking about Murphy, so here’s what we know. We stopped by the factory today—they’re open until December 23, then closed for the rest of the year. They are still producing parts, but their phone system is down due to a provider change, and it likely won’t be working again until the new year. For now, the only way to reach them is by email, as noted on murphyair.com.

Just a reminder: we can’t speak on Murphy’s behalf or address any complaints about their operations. Any concerns will need to be handled directly with them. We’re simply sharing this update to keep everyone informed.

It’s that time again! The Republic Fly-In (R49) is just around the corner, and the President has sent out a warm invite to everyone up north.
