We are proud to share that Bernie Robertson has been posthumously awarded the 2026 CIM Distinguished Service Award by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

The award was presented during the CIM Awards Gala at the CIM National Convention in Vancouver, where Mark Wagner attended on behalf of Bernie’s family to accept this prestigious honour.
Bernie was a driving force behind the success of the CIM Northern Gateway Branch for more than two decades. From helping relaunch the Branch 20 years ago to serving as Vice Chair and leading our Annual Golf Tournament for 18 years, his dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on our organization.

His contributions extended far beyond our branch. Bernie spent over 30 years as a highly respected expert in risk management and insurance for mining and exploration companies, and in 2024, he was recognized as a Life Member of the Canadian Diamond Drillers Association.

Bernie’s legacy continues to be reflected in the strength of our branch, the success of educational outreach programs like Mining Matters and the Mining Teachers’ Tour, and the countless relationships he built.

On behalf of the Northern Gateway Branch, we extend our heartfelt thanks to CIM for recognizing Bernie’s extraordinary service.

Congratulations, Bernie. Your impact continues to be felt across the mining community, and your legacy will not be forgotten.
