The event brought together businesses, SMEs, and community leaders to showcase local enterprise and explore opportunities for economic development. It was a great opportunity for our team to connect with the Otavi community and share how responsible mining, local partnerships, and social investment contribute to long-term sustainable growth.

John Roos, Managing Director of B2Gold Namibia, will be one of the featured speakers at the Chamber of Mines of Namibia Safety Conference 2026, taking place on 4 August 2026 at the Windhoek Showgrounds.

As Managing Director of B2Gold Namibia, the country’s largest underground gold mining company, John provides strategic leadership across operations, long-term growth and corporate development. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director, he served as Country Manager and has played a key role in strengthening B2Gold’s presence and performance in Namibia.

John is a strong advocate for sustainable development and actively leads initiatives that support community development, education, healthcare, livelihoods and environmental stewardship. Through his leadership, B2Gold Namibia continues to integrate responsible mining practices with long-term social and environmental value creation.

He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia and sits on the boards of several organisations, including the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), EduVision Foundation, Save the Rhino Trust Namibia, Michelle McLean Children Trust, and Nakayale Private Academy, contributing to Namibia’s broader socio-economic and environmental development.
