True building resilience means keeping an eye on your structure's health 24/7/365. SMT’s on-site data enclosures work tirelessly in the background, bridging the gap between physical sensor grids—like our FutureCast and TimberCast lines—and our cloud-based software, SMT Analytics.

For engineers and building owners, this means zero guesswork. From any laptop, anywhere in the world, you can log into the SMT portal to view real-time data, track trends, and instantly generate comprehensive building health reports.

Discover how we’re shrinking environmental impacts by preventing unnecessary roof replacements and catching issues before they become catastrophes.

Terraces, green spaces, and premium views. Tesoro by has it all—including smart structural protection from the ground up. 🏢⚡

Before these beautiful outdoor amenities and roof assemblies were completed, SMT's electronic testing solutions were on the job, locating hidden vulnerabilities caused by busy construction sequencing.

Now, with our advanced sensor analytics working behind the scenes, the building's performance is continuously validated, and owners can check in on their structural health report from any laptop, anywhere.

Because a design this beautiful deserves engineering protection to match.

We had a busy week attending the Architectural Institute of British Columbia Conference and the IIBEC Western Canada Chapter's Spring Seminar.

As much as these conferences are essential for professional development, staying on top of building science trends, and showcasing new technology, this past week reminded us that they are also about community.

Getting to step out from behind our screens to catch up with long-time partners, meet new faces, share a few laughs and strengthen meaningful connections is what truly drives our industry forward. Swipe through to see a mix of great conversations, fantastic industry peers, and the SMT crew proving we take building envelope health seriously, but ourselves? Not so much. 🍿😅

What’s been your biggest takeaway from this year’s conversations and connections at similar events?

We are back in the office after an incredible weekend of education with building enclosure specialists at the IIBEC2026 Spring Seminar in Vancouver! 🏛️✨

IIBEC always delivers premier educational sessions, and hearing Graham Finch of break down Best Practices for Mass Timber Roof Design and Construction was a highlight.

A huge shoutout to the IIBEC team for putting together an amazing event, the speakers for delivering informative presentations, and everyone who attended, connected, and shared their perspectives throughout the day. Already looking forward to the next IIBEC event! 🙌

Oakridge Park is officially OPEN to the public!

From a complex $2B construction site to a stunning, living urban hub, watching this Vancouver icon come to life has been an incredible journey.

Over the course of the Oakridge development, our team has been on-site installing our fully automated leak detection systems. Since the roof deck is covered in heavy overburden—such as an urban forest, community gardens, and running loops—finding a leak after construction is finished using traditional methods would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

With our system on guard 24/7 for the lifetime of the building, the property managers will know exactly if and where a membrane breach occurs before it ever disrupts the residents or shoppers below.

Engineers and owners can easily check the building’s structural health report via our SMT Analytics cloud portal anytime, anywhere.

Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this masterpiece. We’ve got your back (and your roof) covered!

We are excited to announce that SMT will be attending the Architectural Institute of British Columbia as an official exhibitor at the Vancouver Convention Centre West!

Centred around this year's theme of People, Place, Possibility—the conference brings together critical conversations about how architectural practice can actively respond to evolving communities, environments, and future challenges. It’s a discussion we are incredibly proud to support.

At SMT, we believe that turning future possibilities into durable realities requires actionable data. We look forward to connecting with fellow architects, engineers, and innovators to discuss how near-real-time sensor analysis validates designs and protects the built environment.

Stop by the SMT booth (Booth #9) throughout the event to meet our team and learn more about our building health solution sets. We can’t wait to reconnect with industry colleagues and partners in Vancouver!

Who knew building science experts had such a need for speed?🏎💨

We brought together our amazing community for our 20th Anniversary Series at Speeders Richmond. It was incredible to get off the job site and onto the go-kart track with the brilliant architects, engineers, and partners who have shaped SMT Research over the last two decades.

Between high-speed laps, laser tag battles, and arcade games, the evening was a perfect reminder that the structural integrity of our industry relies entirely on the strength of our connections. 🤝

Thank you to everyone who came out, brought their A-game, and celebrated this milestone with us.

We’re just getting started with our 2026 anniversary celebrations! If you couldn't make this stop, make sure you're following our page so you don't miss the next experience.

Check out some of our favourite moments from the night! (Shoutout to our 1st place and... 20th place podium finishers!)

Data-driven peace of mind is coming to the IIBEC Spring 2026 Seminar & Webinar!

At SMT, we don't believe in guessing when it comes to building envelope health. We engineer near-real-time sensor analysis and remote data collection solutions that help Architects, Engineers, and Building Owners validate designs and slash environmental impacts.

Want to see how we track structural health from the blueprint stage through the entire lifecycle of a building? Come find us at the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver (or tune in online!) on May 29th.

Let's talk sensors, data, and building structures that actually last.

Mass timber is changing what Vancouver buildings can look like, how they perform, and how they are constructed.

The Hive at 2150 Keith Drive is a strong example of that shift. With its honeycomb-inspired exterior and mass timber structure, the project brings together architecture, engineering, sustainability, and material innovation in a way that feels very connected to Vancouver’s future.

But innovative buildings also come with new performance considerations.

When wood is used as a primary structural material, moisture awareness becomes an important part of protecting long-term durability. It is not just about the finished building image. It is about understanding what is happening within the assembly, during construction and over the life of the structure.

SMT is proud to have contributed to The Hive, supporting the kind of hidden performance work that helps project teams gain more confidence in complex, forward-thinking buildings.

Because as construction evolves, the need for better building intelligence becomes even more important.
