Turned on your AC for the first time this spring and noticed a weird smell? 👃

Here’s what it might mean:

🔹 Musty/mouldy: likely mould or mildew in the system or ductwork. Common after sitting idle all winter.
🔹 Burning dust: usually just dust burning off. Normal for the first run, but shouldn’t last more than a few minutes.
🔹 Rotten egg: could indicate a natural gas leak. Turn off your system and call your gas company immediately.
🔹 Chemical/sweet: possible refrigerant leak. Best to have a technician take a look.

If something smells off, don’t ignore it.
Shut it down and get it checked. It’s always better to be safe than stuck without cooling when you need it most.
