Municipality of the District of Yarmouth Administration Building Re-Roof — Complete.

If you had asked us at the beginning of this year what we hoped to accomplish, winning a publicly tendered municipal project probably wasn’t something we had written on the list.

But looking at these finished photos, it’s hard not to recognize what this project represents for us.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been awarded the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth’s Administration Building Re-Roof through a competitive public tender process — and even more proud of what our team delivered.

From the ground, you see a clean, finished metal roof.

What you don’t see is the tremendous amount of work behind it.

This is a substantial roof with numerous hips, valleys, intersections, transitions, and intricate details. There is a lot more to a roof like this than what meets the eye, and every one of those details matters.

To put some of that into perspective, behind these finished photos are:

11,000 sq. ft. of roof faces
8,940 linear feet of Snap-Lok panels
1,760 linear feet of trims and flashings
17,312 linear feet of strapping
22,000 nails
9,000 concealed panel screws

And when it was all finished?

ZERO exposed fasteners.

The finished system is a Snap-Lok standing seam metal roof, and maintaining a completely concealed-fastener system across this much roof geometry required careful planning, problem-solving, precision, and a tremendous amount of craftsmanship from our crew.

And while we’re proud of how it looks today, we’re even more proud of what it’s intended to do tomorrow.

This roof was built for long-term performance.

Long after the lifts are gone, the tools are packed up, and these completion photos have been forgotten, this roof system will still be up there doing what it was built to do — protecting an important public building in our community for many years to come.

That means something to us.

And to our crew — thank you.

You braved some of the hottest days of the year, worked through major heat warnings, and navigated more than a few questionable rain and thunderstorm days along the way. Through it all, you showed up, put your brave faces on, kept pushing forward, and somehow managed to do it with nearly no complaints.

The conditions weren’t always easy. The work certainly wasn’t easy. But the pride, patience, and craftsmanship you brought to this roof never changed.

The finished product speaks for itself, and you should be proud of what you built. We certainly are.

To the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth and everyone involved in the project, thank you for the opportunity and for the trust placed in our team.

Maybe winning a publicly tendered municipal project wasn’t written on our list of goals for this year.

We’re pretty proud to be able to cross it off anyway.

Getting close to the finish line on this one! 🔨

We’re down to the final few roof faces at the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth Administration Building.

Construction will be taking place near the front entrance this week, August 11–14, so access to the building will be limited while our crew completes this stage of the project.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we get the work wrapped up.

Please note that from Tuesday, August 11 to Friday, August 14, construction work will be taking place near the front entrance of the Administration Building. As a result, access to the building will be limited during this period.

It’s always an honour to work on projects that help improve our community.

🔨 Upcoming Roofing Work at the Administration Building

Beginning today, you'll notice some activity around the Administration Building as a roofing contractor starts mobilizing equipment and materials in the lower parking area. Work to replace the building's existing asphalt shingles with a new metal roof is scheduled to begin this week.

As equipment and materials are delivered, there will be increased contractor activity and vehicle movement in the area. If you're visiting the building, please use caution and follow any temporary signage or directions from workers.

This project is an important investment that will improve the building's long-term durability and help reduce future maintenance.

Some projects stay with you.

When we first stepped onto this site back in February, we knew this wasn’t going to be a typical exterior renovation.

Years of neglect had taken their toll. The roof had been leaking, not a single window remained intact, and hundreds of pigeons had made the building their home. Before we could truly begin, we removed 10 dumpsters of garbage and years of pigeon waste.

From the outset, we knew the south wall had reached the end of its life. In the end, nearly 75% of that wall was rebuilt, creating a solid foundation for everything that followed.

Like any project of this scale, there were challenges beyond our control. One of the most significant was waiting for Nova Scotia Power to reroute the primary power lines along the street so the work could be carried out safely. Although it impacted our schedule, we remained committed to seeing the project through and delivering the finished product you see today.

Over the past several months, this project demanded planning, patience, adaptability, and an incredible amount of hard work from everyone involved. There were obstacles to overcome at every stage, but our team remained committed to doing things the right way—even when much of that work will never be seen once the project is complete.

Today, after months of hard work, we’re proud to hand back a building that has been given a second chance.

What was once a structure that many would have walked away from is now ready for its next chapter. Whether it becomes a business, a workplace, or something entirely new, it once again has the opportunity to serve this community for many years to come.

Imagine leaving for work in the morning and coming home to a brand-new ceiling.

That’s exactly what this client did.

In a single day, our team transformed this water-stained ceiling into a bright, modern shiplap feature while preserving the character of the exposed wood beams.

The project included:

✔️ Installation of new shiplap throughout the entire ceiling
✔️ Painting the completed ceiling
✔️ Removal and reinstallation of all trim
✔️ Full cleanup upon completion

By the time the homeowner returned, the job was complete, the floors were mopped, and the space was ready to enjoy.

Every home has those spaces that don’t get much attention.

For this project, an unused corner by the entry was transformed into a functional mud bench complete with shiplap detailing, a solid wood seat, and upper storage.

A simple addition that creates a dedicated place for boots, coats, bags, and all the things that tend to collect by the door.

Clean lines, practical storage, and a finished look that feels like it was always meant to be there.

The difference is in the details.

This flat roof replacement started with a system that had begun to fail. The existing roofing was poorly adhered, sections had come loose, and the attic access hatch had been buried under layers of roofing and tar.

After a complete tear-off, we installed a new plywood deck and fabricated custom drip edge to properly manage water at the roof perimeter. Off-the-shelf drip edge simply wouldn't have provided the coverage and edge height this roof required.

Before installing the new roofing system, we applied an adhesive primer to improve bond strength and long-term performance. The membrane was then mechanically fastened using an enhanced fastening pattern with metal cap nails, providing additional resistance to the high winds we experience here in Atlantic Canada.

The attic access hatch was clad in aluminum, with no exposed fasteners visible on the finished assembly. Clean, serviceable, and built to last.

A lot of the work that makes a roof perform for years isn't visible once the project is complete. Just because a roof doesn't leak today doesn't mean shortcuts won't cause problems down the road. Proper preparation, thoughtful detailing, and refusing to cut corners are what make the difference.

That's the standard we bring to every project
