I work in the Marketing Communications department and I'm responsible for Press & PR activities for glasstec.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
To me, WE ARE GLASS creates an emotional connection and a strong sense of belonging. It reflects how closely the international glass industry is connected across all its sectors. I'm proud that glasstec is the place where this global community comes together every two years.

After two years of preparation, finally seeing glasstec come to life is a very special moment for me. I love meeting people from all over the world and experiencing the international atmosphere. This year, I'm especially looking forward to the new Women in Glass event. As a woman, I'm really pleased to see this new platform become part of glasstec. I think it's a great opportunity for women from across the industry to connect, exchange ideas and showcase the diversity of talent shaping the future of glass.

I've learned not to take glass for granted. Today, I even recycle every little glass jar because I've developed a whole new appreciation for this remarkable material. It's one of the oldest materials in human history, yet it continues to surprise me with innovations like foldable glass.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗗ü𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁?
I grew up in Düsseldorf and even went to school in the Altstadt, so I'll always have a special connection to the city. If I had a free day, I'd stroll through the little streets of the Altstadt and then find a quiet spot by the Rhine, away from the crowds, just enjoying the skyline with the Fernsehturm, the Schlossturm, the bridges and, of course, Father Rhine. For me, that's the perfect place.

glasstec 2026 provides guidance for the future of the glass industry.

From 20 to 23 October, the world's leading trade fair will bring together decision-makers, market leaders and experts from across the entire glass industry in Düsseldorf. Even at this early stage, international attendance is strong: companies from 48 countries have already confirmed their participation.

At the centre of the programme are the 🔥 Hot Topics Decarbonisation, Circular Economy and AI & Digital Technologies, driving transformation across the sector.

Borosilicate glass is a material designed to withstand extremes. 💡

What makes it exceptional is not just one outstanding property, but the combination of many. While other materials may outperform it in individual categories, borosilicate glass brings together a remarkable balance of thermal stability, chemical resistance, mechanical durability, and transparency.

This combination enables demanding applications in which multiple requirements must be met simultaneously, from laboratory and pharmaceutical environments to advanced optics and technologies used in space.

Its story began in 1887 with Otto Schott, the chemist who transformed glassmaking from a traditional craft into an engineered science, and the founder of glasstec 2026 exhibitor SCHOTT. By developing borosilicate glass, he created a material that combined exceptional characteristics in a way that had not existed before, opening the door to entirely new applications.

More than 130 years later, this pioneering mindset continues to define the potential of glass.

The technologies to decarbonise glass production in Germany are emerging. However, the infrastructure and investment conditions are not yet keeping pace.

In an interview with glasstec, Prof. Dr. Peter Radgen from the Institute for Energy Economics and Rational Energy Use at the University of Stuttgart shares first insights from the upcoming “Glass 2045” study, developed together with BV Glas.

He explains how energy prices, grid expansion, hydrogen infrastructure and reliable political conditions will determine the pace of the transformation. And how different the requirements for flat glass, container glass and specialty glass are.

I’ve been a Key Account Manager at glasstec for over 20 years – taking care of our key accounts, associations and special projects. In short: I connect the right people at the right time.

Glass shapes modern architecture, but it also poses real risks for birds. The bird protection forum at glasstec 2026 puts this exact challenge on stage.

On 23 October, industry experts unpack what bird friendly building with glass really requires today: legal frameworks, tested solutions, and practical guidance for planning, tendering and implementation. A key focus will be how test results can be made more transferable to real world projects, closing the gap between lab and building site.
