Curious to discover what a day at Siemens Energy really looks like?

Meet Prachi Vashisht, who started her career at Siemens Energy as an intern at our test laboratory for transformer materials. She takes us into the lab and shows how our teams test oils to keep transformers running reliably at critical nodes across the grid.

🎥 Discover the stories behind the energy with 'A day with ' series, where we take you behind the scenes of our work and show you the people and passion that power our energy solutions.

What helps keeping 800,000 volts and above under control in fractions of a second?
Circuit breakers in AIS and GIS switchgear.

It is one of the technologies that makes modern power systems possible, helping utilities move electricity reliably and cost-effectively across transmission and distribution networks.

Schaltwerk Berlin, the largest production facility of its kind in the world, has been part of that journey for more than 100 years.

The historical milestones are a reminder of how fast the technology advanced.
In 1964, Siemens delivered its first SF6 high-voltage circuit breaker for 220 kV.
In 1968, the first 110 kV GIS was installed in Berlin.

And over the decades, continued development in Berlin helped establish new industry standards worldwide.

Since 2010, we are taking the next step with the Blue portfolio, using vacuum switching technology and clean air instead of SF6.
That means no greenhouse gas emissions, no reduction in performance, and a clear path for further innovation towards decarbonized power grids.

👉 What do you think will define the next big breakthrough in switchgear?

Having recently celebrated IDAHOBIT, it reminds us of the ongoing work required to combat discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community worldwide. We recognize that true allyship, rooted in our shared values of respect and caring, means actively challenging bias, speaking up, and listening with empathy, creating safe spaces for all. 💜🌈

Can a power plant that isn’t running still play a role in the energy future? Absolutely – and Atucha I proves why. 👇
This , we’re looking back at a true pioneer. Built with our technology, Atucha I reliably delivered electricity for 50 years.
The plant is currently undergoing a lifetime extension, supported by new turbine rotors and decades of service know-how, with the goal of returning to operation for 20 more years.⚡
With Atucha II still running, these projects demonstrate that lasting partnerships and reliable technology keep supporting Argentina’s energy system – yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
What do you think: Is extending the life of power plants underrated in the energy transition?

💡 Office… or field? Roland made his choice. He swapped a desk job for a life on site, trading simulations for real machines, and routine for a career that has taken him around the world. 🌍 Today, Roland is a commissioning engineer, who combines technical expertise, curiosity and hands-on work.

Here at Siemens Energy, careers are built on purpose, learning and the freedom to grow — whether in the office or out in the field.

– a look back at a technology that shaped dry‑type transformers worldwide.

Did you know?
GEAFOL technology was developed and continuously advanced in our factory in Kirchheim (Germany) - starting with units up to 6.1 MVA in the 1960s and reaching 47 MVA, the largest GEAFOL transformer ever built and successfully delivered in 2026.⚡🚀
What began locally is delivered globally today: Germany, Mexico, Hungary, and China - close to customers, trusted worldwide. 🌏
One technology

Six decades of innovation. Setting the global benchmark for dry‑type transformers.

👉 Curious where reliable power solutions like GEAFOL are used in everyday life?
