Day in the life of Stu Butterworth – Taylor & Braithwaite Sales Rep for North Yorkshire, Durham & Sunderland ⭐
My first 3 months at T&B have been full-on learning the brands, specs and territory. The team has been incredibly supportive, professional and focused on delivering the best service for every customer.
After 20 years in agriculture, moving into construction has been a great new challenge - building relationships, bringing in new customers and doing what I enjoy most: selling machines.
I'm looking forward to continuing training with our brands and gearing up for my first show, Hillhead 2026 in Buxton.
6.15am: The day starts with a 5km run (I would say quick but that isn’t the case!)
6.45am: At this point our Fox Red Lab, Peggy, is still giving it big ZZZ’s but it’s time for a walk around the block.
7am: Shower, coffee and sort out before the day ahead.
8am: Leave the house to attend my first appointment of the day which is in Durham. Look at a trade in machine, discuss specifications and agree to price accordingly.
10am: Visit my targeted customers on my list in that area, some historic customers and cold calls along the way.
12.30pm: Dinner time generally consists of Pasta or a sandwich. The worse part of being on the road is the temptation of fast food outlets or filling up with fuel at the garage and trying not to raid the sweet isle!
1pm: Drop some parts off for a long standing T&B customer for his older Hyundai. Back up from all departments is key in any business - T&B have this and pride themselves. Some would say selling it is the easy part.
2pm: Continue to visit customers heading in a homely direction. As a new salesperson to the team it is vital to get in front of customers and getting your name out there.
5pm: Price up machines from the day on the road and double check tomorrows plan. We go again….
Evening: More dog walks and chill out time with the family. Wedding planning is in full swing so my partner Amy, and I have busy evenings at the moment sorting bits for the big day.
