Across Northern Ireland, airtight homes aren’t the future anymore, they’re already the standard. The issue is ventilation hasn’t caught up in some designs.
With tighter envelopes and improved insulation standards, uncontrolled airflow through a building is no longer reliable.
Without a proper MVHR system, we regularly see issues such as:
• Persistent condensation on windows
• Mould forming in colder corners or behind furniture
• Stale air complaints shortly after handover
MVHR provides a controlled, balanced approach, bringing in fresh air while removing moisture and pollutants at the same time.
It’s not about over-engineering, it’s about making airtight homes actually perform properly in NI’s climate.
