"The trainers were amazing and taught in ways that really helped me learn. They gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and into a completely new industry."

For Charlotte Gibson, our Tractor course in Iver wasn't just about gaining a qualification. It gave her the skills, confidence and support to make the move from customer service and management into construction.

After years in the corporate world, Charlotte decided to take a chance on something different. She gained her qualification, built her confidence, and quickly transitioned into her first role on site.

"Passing my theory and practical was such an emotional moment, and I was genuinely sad when the course ended!"

Today, Charlotte is doing a job she loves and earning almost double what she earned as a manager.

"I hope I inspire other women to just do it. Construction may be seen as a man's world, but there's no reason why we can't thrive in it too."

If Charlotte's story has inspired you, this is your chance to take the first step towards a new career with one of our funded Buckinghamshire construction courses.

Buckinghamshire residents only

At Operator Skills Hub, we help people gain the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to move forward in their construction careers.

"What's the harm in trying?"

That's the question Eboney Clarke asked herself after attending our Women in Construction event in Sizewell earlier this year.

Looking for a new opportunity, she joined our Skills Bootcamp in early June and took her first steps into construction. With the support of our instructors, Eboney achieved her Vehicle Marshal and Forward Tipping Dumper qualifications, building the skills and confidence needed to move forward. By the end of the programme, she had secured a job interview and was ready to begin the next chapter of her journey.

At the Operator Skills Hub, we're creating more than training opportunities. We're helping people access the skills, support and pathways needed to build lasting careers in construction.

In communities such as Suffolk, that means investing in talent and creating pathways for people to work on the live local projects shaping their communities. Eboney's journey is a great example of what's possible when potential is matched with opportunity.

As she prepares to start her career in construction, she's already looking ahead to future training opportunities and continuing her development within the industry.

From all of us at the Operator Skills Hub, we can't wait to see what the future holds for you, Eboney.

Because learning doesn't stop with a qualification, it creates the foundation for what's next.

After 28 years in corporate sales, Ben Russell decided it was time for a new challenge.

After nearly three decades in corporate sales, Ben realised he wanted something more practical, hands-on and outdoors.

Through our Iver Skills Bootcamp, he gained the skills, confidence and industry knowledge needed to make the transition into construction and get site-ready. Today, he's working as an ADT Operator on an EKFB site for Flannery Plant Hire .

"I was guided by the Operator Skills Hub team from training all the way through to landing a seat as an ADT Operator on a major construction project and I have never looked back. I now love what I do, I love coming to work and I would not have it any other way."

Ben's story is proof that a new career can start at any stage of life. With the right support, taking that first step into a new industry doesn't have to be daunting.

We're delighted to have supported Ben on his journey so far and can't wait to see what he achieves next.
