What happens when young people are empowered to solve real-world challenges through creativity?
Follow the journey of the Saturday Changemaker Club at STEAMhouse, where young people aged 13–16 worked with Birmingham City FC Foundation to tackle food waste through creativity, design and STEAM.
Over 16 weeks, participants responded to a live challenge inspired by the Blues Go Green initiative, developing innovative ideas to reduce food waste while building confidence, teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills.
What began as a room full of strangers became a community of confident young people who developed ideas and discovered that their creativity can make a genuine difference. For some participants, this programme opened up new possibilities and helped them see higher education as somewhere they could belong and thrive.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this programme such a success, and especially to the young people whose creativity, enthusiasm and commitment inspired us every week.
