Open doors. Change perceptions.

This Vocational Celebration Day, we're celebrating the many pathways into manufacturing, from apprenticeships and college courses to technical training and hands-on experience.

Modern manufacturing is powered by innovation, technology and highly skilled people, but outdated perceptions still mean many don't see the opportunities our sector has to offer.

That's why National Manufacturing Day matters.

By opening your doors or visiting schools, you can show students, parents, teachers and careers advisers what manufacturing really looks like today, challenge misconceptions and inspire the next generation to consider a career in the industry.

Hear directly from manufacturers who have built their businesses through vocational talent, including insights from industry leaders who highlight the value of apprenticeships and hands-on training in developing the workforce of the futurešŸ‘‡šŸ½

Join hundreds of manufacturers across the UK taking part in National Manufacturing Day and help shape the future manufacturing workforce.

Are you avoiding upskilling your experienced engineers because traditional apprenticeships make them start from scratch?

Our updated Engineering Maintenance Technician (EMT) Level 3 apprenticeship recognises what your employees already know.

So their training only covers their identified skills gaps.

The programme runs for 24 to 30 months, about half the length of a traditional four-year apprenticeship.

Every candidate is assessed on their existing knowledge, practical skills and workplace behaviours before the programme begins - which also give employers a clear picture of wider workforce capability.

We’re launching a series of national events that let manufacturers learn from their peers in real working facilities.

Each half-day Manufacturing Connect event gives attendees:
šŸ A guided factory tour
šŸ’” Insight session from the host manufacturer
šŸ’¬ Time to compare approaches with peers

It isn’t a sales event, it’s a chance for manufacturers to collaborate with people running operations like their own.

Our first event of 2026 will be held on 16 July at Amtico International in Coventry.

The demand for digital and technical skills in manufacturing isn’t slowing down: it’s accelerating.

As businesses continue to adopt automation, connected systems and AI-enabled processes, the expectations placed on the workforce are evolving just as quickly.
But for many employers, accessing the right talent remains a challenge.

Building these capabilities isn’t isolated training. It requires a more connected approach to workforce development.
One that brings together technical expertise, leadership capability and digital skills in a way that reflects how modern manufacturing operates.

That’s exactly what our partnership is designed to support.

By expanding access to both engineering and digital apprenticeship pathways, Make UK and JBC Skills Training Ltd are helping the industry take a more joined-up approach, developing the skills needed to improve productivity, strengthen resilience and prepare for the future.

Menopause in the workplace is still too often overlooked… but it doesn’t have to be.

More people than ever are working through peri-menopause and menopause. How we support colleagues during this stage really matters.

That’s why we’ve created our Managing Menopause in the Workplace virtual course, designed to give you the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to make a difference šŸ‘‡

šŸ“… Virtual classroom: 3 June 2026

You’ll learn:
āœ” What peri-menopause and menopause actually mean, and who’s affected
āœ” Common symptoms and how they can impact work
āœ” Simple, practical ways to support colleagues
āœ” The role of employers (including UK legal considerations)
āœ” How to have open, supportive conversations
āœ” Where to go for further help

šŸ’¬ Plus, there’ll be a live Q&A, so you can ask questions and share experiences in a safe, supportive space.
Creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive starts with understanding and menopause is part of that.

It’s half term, and a well‑deserved break for our Mini Makers, who joined us at the Make UK Technology Hub earlier this month for a day of exploration and discovery.

Fresh from our own 130th birthday celebrations, we welcomed 20 bright young minds from Whoberley Hall Primary School in Coventry and asked them a big question: ā€œWhat will the next 130 years of manufacturing look like?ā€

They didn’t hold back. From bold, imaginative ideas to thoughtful reflections on building a more sustainable and inclusive future, their creativity showed just how exciting the next generation of makers could be.
