It was great to bring together our current and former apprentices, graduates, families and colleagues to recognise the achievements of the people who have helped shape the Academy over the last two decades.

We were pleased to welcome pupils from St Bede’s High School to the WEC Engineering Academy this morning to give them a hands-on introduction to engineering.

During their visit, they toured the Academy, tried our VR welding simulator in our STEM Room, got to grips with PPE and learnt about what welding involves. They also had a go at chocolate welding to put their new knowledge into practice in a fun way!

This year marks the WEC Engineering Academy’s 20th anniversary, and over the next 20 years, we aim to introduce 2,000 children to engineering through our STEM Centre.

A huge well done to Kris, our WEC Engineering Academy Training Manager, who attended the National Apprenticeship Awards regional competition last week and WON Skills Champion of the Year for the North West!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of WEC Engineering Academy, and Kris has worked incredibly hard throughout those 20 years to support and develop the next generation of engineers.

It's fantastic to see that commitment recognised, and we couldn't be more proud!

Kris is now through to the UK Finals. Stay tuned for more!
