Here are some photos from yesterday's WorldSkills UK Regional Welding Competition, hosted at WEC Engineering Academy in Blackburn.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and showcased their welding skills throughout the day.

Special congratulations once again to our WEC Engineering Academy apprentices Zak, Cameron and Archie, who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and will now progress to the National Finals.

AMAZING NEWS! Yesterday, we were proud to host the WorldSkills UK Regional Competition (Welding Category) at WEC Engineering Academy in Blackburn.

Welding apprentices from across the local area came together to put their skills to the test, with competitors challenged to complete four welds within a four-hour timeframe. The standard of work on display was exceptional, and every apprentice who took part should be incredibly proud of their performance.

We're especially delighted to announce that the top three places were all secured by WEC Engineering Academy apprentices:

🥇 1st Place – Zak
🥈 2nd Place – Cameron
🥉 3rd Place – Archie

Zak, Cameron and Archie will now progress to the WorldSkills UK National Finals, where they will compete against more than 100 of the country's most talented young professionals.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, and best of luck to our finalists as they prepare for the next stage of the competition.

Meet Zak, Archie, Cameron, Amelia, Alex and Callum, our Apprentices competing in the Worldskills Regionals in just over 2 weeks - (Welding category)👏

We’re very proud to announce that all six applicants from WEC Engineering Academy have successfully progressed through to the regional stage of the WorldSkills UK Competition in the Welding category.

We’re also excited to be hosting the WorldSkills regional competition at WEC Engineering Academy in Blackburn next month... And over 50% of entrants within that category are from WEC Group 😀

We’re delighted to announce that the regional stage of the WorldSkills Competition (Welding category) will be hosted at WEC Engineering Academy in Blackburn on 4th June.

We also have some fantastic news to share… 6 out of 6 of our welding apprentices who entered the competition have successfully made it through to the next stage of the competition!

Congratulations to Zak, Archie, Cameron, Amelia, Alex and Callum on this fantastic achievement.
A total of 11 apprentices, including our own, will compete in the regional competition in Blackburn, where they will have just one hour to complete four welds, with only one attempt at each.

Even more impressively, across two competition categories, 10 out of 10 applicants from WEC Engineering Academy have progressed to the regional stage - a 100% success rate.

We’re incredibly proud of all our apprentices and wish them the very best of luck in the competition!

WorldSkills training continues at WEC Group Engineering Academy!

We are delighted to announce that Sam, Callum, Harrison and Josh have successfully passed the entry stage and have all been invited to the regional finals in the Metal Fabrication category.

That means every WEC entrant in the Metal Fabrication category has progressed to the next stage, which is a fantastic achievement for the team!
