𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗬: 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿

Ameon is looking for an experienced fire and security commissioning engineer to join our growing fire and security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, fault finding and final handover of fire alarm, life-safety and security systems across a range of construction projects.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to an experienced engineer who takes pride in delivering compliant systems, accurate commissioning documentation and a high standard of installation through to client handover.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
•Commission, test and fault-find fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839-1 and project requirements
•Commission security systems including CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems
•Full functional testing of devices, interfaces and controls
•Test and demonstrate cause-and-effect strategies, including interfaces with other life-safety and building systems
•Program and configure fire alarm and security systems
•Identify installation or programming defects and work with project teams to bring systems to a commissionable standard
•Complete commissioning certificates, test sheets, defect records and handover documentation
•Assist with client demonstrations, witnessing and final system handover
•Liaise with Ameon's project managers, site teams, designers, manufacturers and specialist contractors
•Ensure systems are delivered in accordance with specifications, manufacturers' requirements and relevant British Standards

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹:
•Proven experience commissioning commercial life safety and security systems
•Recognised Fire Industry Association (FIA) fire detection and alarm qualification, or equivalent
•Good working knowledge of BS 5839-1
•Relevant electrical/fire alarm technical qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
•Appropriate ECS/JIB competency card for the work undertaken
•Ability to understand fire alarm specifications, drawings, schematics and cause-and-effect matrices
•Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
•Ability to complete commissioning documentation accurately and professionally
•Full UK driving licence

As the UK’s leading trade organisation for building engineering services, BESA Group works to raise industry standards and help deliver safer, healthier and more efficient buildings.

We were thrilled to receive the accolade at a ceremony held at The Brewery in London. Hosted by entertainer La Voix, people, teams and organisations were recognised across 19 categories for demonstrating excellence and innovation in all aspects of building services engineering.

Construction director Dave Scott said: “At Ameon we’ve always been determined to not only meet the standards expected of us, but to actually lead the way in how competence, compliance and accountability are integrated into the way we design, manage and deliver our projects.

Do you know how to perform CPR, or where your nearest defibrillator is?

Every year in the UK, 40,000 people have an out of hospital cardiac arrest, with the chance of survival less than 10%.

While on a family holiday in the summer, our estimating director Scott’s father-in-law had a cardiac arrest. With immediate CPR by family, the use of a nearby defibrillator and the fast response from Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, he defied the odds and is thankfully still here to tell the tale.

We’re sharing this because today is Restart a Heart Day, which raises awareness of cardiac arrest and the importance of learning CPR.

We’ve had a defibrillator fitted at Ameon HQ and are providing the necessary training to give our team the skills and confidence to use it in the event of a cardiac arrest.

It could save a life ❤️

Ameon is thrilled to be supporting the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre District Team U13 boys’ squad as kit sponsor for the 2026/27 season ⚽👕🤝

District football brings together children from different schools to represent an area in matches against other district teams, giving them the opportunity to test themselves alongside players from other clubs at both academy and grassroots levels, and take pride in representing their region.

Part of the English Schools' Football Association (EFSA), the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre District has boys, girls and mixed teams from age U11 to U16. All coaches are volunteers, with the teams depending on sponsorship to help fund kits and other equipment.

Craig Andrews, U13 manager, said: “The standard at trials was incredibly high. We have a fantastic squad on the pitch, and it’s brilliant to have Ameon backing the lads off it by sponsoring their kit.

“Wearing the district badge means a great deal to the boys and Ameon’s support helps them look and feel like a team as they represent Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre across the North West.”

Ameon is thrilled to be supporting the Thrive Careers Hub as part of our place on the Rise Construction Framework.

Thrive is a coffee shop with a difference - it’s a place where support workers can help young people find work, providing guidance on CVs and interviews and connecting them with local employers. It also provides services relating to housing, debt and health and wellbeing, as well as access to food banks.

Back in May, we challenged a group of Blackpool and The Fylde College electrical T Level students to put their understanding of real-world construction processes to the test 🏗️📋

Working in teams, the students developed and presented electrical installation proposals in six weeks, supported by industry workshops and mentoring led by our team at Ameon HQ to enhance their knowledge. Entries were judged on factors including technical accuracy, budgets, risk management and timescales.

Congratulations to the winning team - Cass, Ezra, Jacob, Nathan and Raihan – whose proposal stood out for its attention to detail, teamwork and professionalism. Their prize of Amazon vouchers was awarded to each member of the team by Ameon’s construction director Dave Scott 🏆🤝

Dave said: “We wanted to make sure this challenge would truly reflect what the students are going to encounter in the future when working in their chosen careers. We’ve been seriously impressed with the effort put forward and it was a pleasure to facilitate.

“Well done to our worthy winners, and all who took part. We hope you will take this experience and the valuable feedback and put it to good use as you move forward.”

Aimi O’Donnell, social value lead at Blackpool Council, said: “This was a brilliant challenge for the students and a true insight into industry. Ameon really committed to this project and invested their time in supporting emerging talent in the town.

“The winning group stood out — they produced a strong, well-thought-through concept and presented it with real assurance to directors, the client and the project manager. It would be great to see this happen again next year, earlier in the curriculum so they can see the finished article.”
