Another great job completed last week 👌

Our customer had been struggling with uneven steps in their back garden, so we stepped in to help. We removed the old steps and rebuilt them from scratch, carefully calculating the new rise and going to suit the existing ground levels. We also added an extra step to make access easier and safer.

The project included new block walls, Indian sandstone treads, and a clean rendered finish — all completed on time and under budget.

Best of all, the customer is over the moon with the result and ready to paint!!! we’ve already been booked in for more work 🔨

Last week we started a job for a factory in town.They called us in originally due to water ingress in the offices.
Upon a closer inspection we found that the precast concrete lintels had failed.
We called in a structural engineer to specify the lintles needed. Using acros we supported, took out and replaced each lintle and dry packed using slate across the front elevation.
We then fitted a stop bead top and bottom and rendered the band to suit the existing, incorporating mesh to help prevent any cracking.
This was all carried out while the factory was operating and didn't interfere with the internals.

A recent awkward skimming job we carried out early this week in a flat in braunton.
The customer ripped down there old lath and plaster ceiling, insulated in-between the rafters and boarded ready for us to come in, with lots of angles and small tight areas it tested us, but we are really happy with the finish we achieved with this one.

Last week we completed a job taking out and replacing old dated 6 panel pine doors for new pre finished oak and cut in 3 hinges and new doors stops
We used the Jig Tech handle system which is game changer for a new stylish modern look .
The customer also wanted to get rid of there decorative skirting architrave for a more stylish look,
Now it's time for the decorator to come in strip the wall paper and paint the new skirting, we think they look great and transform the house

Quick turnaround on this one — completed in just 1.5 days.
New roof window fitted, rafters trimmed and properly supported, then re-slated and skimmed for a clean finish.
We love doing jobs like these a huge difference to the room and the customer is really happy with the result.

We’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! 🎉
We’re back after the break, refreshed and ready to go.
This was our first job of the year — creating a new bathroom and shower room. We built a stud wall and, once the plumber and electrician had been in, we insulated and boarded it.
The old window was boarded up, the new window made good, and everything was then green-gritted and skimmed.

We will be back once floor fitters have been in and the customer has chosen there tiles.

Another year wrapped up, and as I sit here overlooking Woolacombe with the tools finally packed away, it’s hard not to feel grateful for the year we’ve had.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you who has chosen D West Builders this year. From the smallest jobs to the bigger projects, it’s been a real pleasure working on your homes and working alongside so many great customers and trades.
Now it’s time to hang the boots up for a well-earned Christmas break, recharge, and enjoy some much-needed time with family and loved ones.

A ramp we had to recently emergency install for a disabled access for a gym in braunton for building control to sign off.
This was shuttered to gain the 1:15 fall, mixed using 4.1 sand and cement with fibers for strength. We later came back and sealed for extra strength and durability.

Another productive few days at the old factory.
Skimming of a few ceilings and walls of which will soon be the mens, woman and disabled toilets and changing rooms.
Customers plasterboarded all the walls and ceilings and are going to make good the remaining non skimmed walls themselves.
Nice to be able to push the job on for them

Today, we got called in by a good friend who needed some drainage work doing at a factory in braunton that's changing use.
We dug and exposed the existing drain run and installed an inspection chamber, dug our new trench to where a new toilet will be situated allowing for a connection for a shower. Part way down the new run we then installed another inspection chamber to allow for the air vent pipe and a gully for more sinks and shower wastes.
This was all carried out in line with building control, encased in p*e gravel and ensuring we had a 1-40 fall.
Due to the size of the job we called in extra help 🐶🐕

Great progress on the kingsacre job, we got in Saturday and skimmed the extension out and opened it into the existing house bringing it all together. We love when it gets to this stage, the windows with the veluxs on top looks great
