Wells RFC Seconds 13- 10 B&ARFC Second XV
The Bridgwater side for this trip to play at table toppers Wells welcomed back Shaun Mahoney, returning from injury after more than two years.
After a slow start against a strong Wells team who once again made the most of their sloping pitch, the Albion clawed their way back into the match in the second half, but sadly just couldn’t quite do enough.
The hosts attacked strongly from the start but found it difficult to work their way through the Albion defence. However, in the ninth minute, from a penalty to touch Wells swung the ball along the line and their centre stepped back inside to score an unconverted try.
Albions first real attack came five minutes before half time when they put pressure on the Wells line but to no avail and the score remained 5-0 at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half, Wells created some space,e which allowed their left wing to score another unconverted try.
Wells extended their lead further when they were awarded a penalty that was slotted home in the 56th minute to make the score 13-0.
Albion then started to come into the own, the forwards rumbled, and in the 70th minute, Aiden Cable and Charlie Barnes took the ball through,it was moved wide and Aidan Robinson went over in the corner for an unconverted try.
Lewis Randle then burst through but was just held and then a Mahoney burst took Albion into the home 22, but were penalised. They won the ball back well and ran it through the three quarters before Randle ran 60 metres holding off the defence to score an unconverted try, which was the final play of the game as it ended 13-10.
