Total kWh tells you the scale of your energy use. It does not always tell you whether performance is improving.
Under ESOS Phase 4, organisations must calculate at least one energy-intensity ratio for each organisational purpose. Energy totals must also reconcile in kWh.
That could mean energy per m² for property, per employee for a people-led operation, or per unit of output in manufacturing. The denominator needs to reflect what actually drives energy use. Choose the wrong one and the ratio can create a misleading comparison.
At Hawley Energy, we help organisations test the data, choose defensible denominators and connect the result to a clear decision. No isolated spreadsheet exercise. Complex energy information managed under one accountable roof.
