With intricate detail, this component deserved a closer look. 👀

The external profile was turned before the internal thread was milled, all within the same setup. Completing both operations without removing the part helps maintain positional accuracy and reduces the risk of variation between operations.

When you're machining aerospace components to tight tolerances, minimising setups is a simple but effective way of maintaining consistency from one part to the next.

Safe to say this one's earned its moment in the spotlight. 🤩

Complex aerospace components? That’s where we do our best work. 🤩

Over the years, we’ve built up experience machining precision engineered components where accuracy and attention to detail are critical.

Working to tight aerospace tolerances and supported by our AS9100D and ISO9001 quality standards, we produce components for a range of demanding applications, while maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect.

All the gear 𝙖𝙣𝙙 all the idea… that’s what comes with the right 5 axis machining setup!

Our investment in the latest 5 axis milling technology from DN Solutions allows us to produce complex machined components and assemblies on time and at competitive costs, across a range of materials including exotics.

We focus on small to medium batch production, so if you need high quality custom machined parts from a trusted team, get in touch: https://bit.ly/3Ee0qj3

Some pairings just work - like the Multifeed 65 and the Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 250-II.

Together they create an automated turning cell capable of handling bar diameters up to 65mm, keeping production moving with minimal intervention once the job is set up.

That means more time machining, less time standing by the machine, and more jobs moving through the shop. 🙌

A typical day at Wilsons Engineering?

Let us show you. 👇

Game faces are on as we wrap up another busy month at Wilsons Engineering. 🙌

June has kept the workshop busy with CNC turning, milling and 5 axis machining projects moving through production, with plenty of components heading out the door to customers.

Now our attention turns to the busy summer months ahead, and the team is ready to get stuck in!

Can’t beat the Doosans at work. 👌

Our 5 axis Doosan machining centres allow us to machine complex parts across multiple axes in a single operation, reducing the need for multiple setups and giving better control over accuracy and consistency.

That setup also gives us the flexibility to machine a wide range of material grades, including exotics, while helping keep production moving efficiently for our customers.

This is what a long standing supplier relationship looks like in practice. 👏

We have been working with Magellan Aerospace for over 10 years, building a solid working relationship as new supply chain initiatives have been introduced over time. On a few occasions, Magellan have also used us as a key supplier to trial and support these programmes before rolling them out across their wider supply base.

We're pleased to have that level of trust in place, and we look forward to continuing to build on it.

When complex components need tight tolerances, our engineers and the DVF 5000 are ready for the job. 👍

Its simultaneous 5-axis capability allows multiple faces and angles to be machined in fewer setups, helping us maintain accuracy and consistency across production runs.

Reducing handling between operations also means less variation, improved repeatability and shorter lead times for customers.

From one-off components to repeat batches, we machine custom parts built to spec.

It’s all in the finishing touches. 🙌

Even the hard to reach areas need attention, which is where the pneumatic pencil die grinder comes in. It allows us to remove small burrs and sharp edges before the parts move further through production.

In aerospace and engineering, details like this matter. Small imperfections left behind can create issues later on, both for assembly workers handling the parts and for components operating inside engines or hydraulic systems.

Once these parts are finished up, they'll be heading over to powder coating.
