Swapping spreadsheets for spades 🪏 🌿

Recently Thrive’s investment team spent the day volunteering for Bristol charity Ambition Lawrence Weston in their newly created community garden – an amazing local space where nature and people can come together.

Ambition Lawrence Weston is the group behind the Ambition Community Energy wind turbine which Thrive helped fund.

Income generated by the turbine helps to support the charity’s work empowering and supporting local residents.

Turbine parts touch down at Whitelaw Brae wind farm 🛠️

Blades, tower sections and more are currently being delivered to the site in Scotland, ready for the next stage of construction to begin.

The project will provide a community benefit fund of £285,000 a year and we are introducing biodiversity measures to enhance nature on site.

Once operational, the 57MW project will be capable of generating enough clean electricity to power around 45,000 average UK homes.

Take a peek behind the scenes at the UK’s first deep geothermal power plant in Cornwall ⚡

As investors, we’re really proud to see the landmark project in action – now generating the UK’s first geothermal electricity.

The site will also deliver the UK’s first commercial scale sustainable lithium.

This year’s is about championing the role of communities in driving positive change for our planet 🌍

Since our inception in the 90s, Thrive has empowered local communities to take climate action.

Now we’re aiming to help more communities take a stake in clean energy projects in their area. Community Energy Catalyst (CEC), our joint venture with Better Society Capital, will invest up to £40 million into community energy projects like Kilbirnie wind turbine 👇

It’s been a big week for solar ☀️

Record high set on Monday and raised on Tuesday, with 14.4GW of electricity generated in sunny spring weather.

Exciting to see that National Energy System Operator is planning to start running the grid without gas for periods over the summer!

A new British solar generation record was hit two days running this week, with generation reaching 14,414MW at 11:30 in the morning of 7 April.
