⚠️ Thinking about investing in renewable energy? Please do your research first.

Solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps are significant investments in your home. When designed and installed correctly, they can provide benefits for many years, but choosing the right company is just as important as choosing the right equipment.

With more renewable energy companies entering the market, we want to encourage homeowners to take their time and ask the right questions before accepting a quote.

🔹 Are they appropriately qualified and accredited?
🔹 Can they explain why the system is suitable for your home?
🔹 Have you checked independent reviews and previous customer experiences?
🔹 What warranties and aftercare are included?
🔹 Who will you contact if something goes wrong after installation?

Unfortunately, we hear from homeowners who have been left with systems that are not functioning correctly and are struggling to get hold of the company that installed them. It can be incredibly frustrating when you have invested your hard-earned money and cannot get the support you need.

Please don't let your family be left in that position. Compare more than just the price, ask questions and make sure you understand who will be there to support you in the years ahead.

At SA Energy, we believe in education before sales, designing systems around our customers and providing long-term support. We also help homeowners with fault-finding and repairs on systems installed by other companies.

💙 Sometimes, a simple “thank you” means more than you realise.

A couple of weeks ago, Mark contacted us after experiencing an electrical fault at his home.

What initially looked like one problem turned into something that needed a little more persistence. Simon and Dane went back several times over the following two weeks, fault-finding, testing and working through the issue until Mark was finally fully up and running again.

Today, Mark came into our office.

Not because something had gone wrong again, but because he wanted to say thank you.

He brought Simon and Dane a card, a very heartfelt letter and an incredibly generous personal gesture to thank them for the help they had given him.

We won't be sharing the contents of Mark's letter because some things are personal and should stay that way. But we did want to share the card, because moments like this deserve to be recognised.

Mark, thank you. 💙

Thank you for taking the time to come in, for your incredibly kind words and, most importantly, for trusting Simon and Dane to keep going until they found the problem.

For us, this is what being a local business is about.

Sometimes the job isn't straightforward. Sometimes it takes more than one visit. Sometimes you just have to keep going until you've got your customer sorted.

And when somebody takes the time to say “I appreciate what you did for me” — it reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

WE'RE BACK! 👋

The holidays are over, the inbox is open, the kettle is on... and apparently we're now on the downhill run to CHRISTMAS! 🎄😂

But first - September, Halloween and Bonfire Night!

We're back at SA Energy HQ in Lee-on-the-Solent and ready to get stuck into what looks like a very busy few months.

One of the things we love about being based here is being part of the local community. We're a small independent business; we use and support other local businesses whenever we can, and there's a good chance you'll spot one of our vans somewhere around Lee most days!

So no sales pitch today.

“I live in a conservation area or listed building… does that mean I can’t have solar?” 🏡☀️

Not necessarily.

One of the biggest concerns we hear is:

Where can the panels go? Will I need planning permission? What about the battery or heat pump? And where do I even start?

That’s where SA Energy can help.

For conservation areas, listed buildings and other sensitive properties, the design and location of the installation really matters.

We look at the property as a whole and consider:

✔️ The most appropriate location for Solar PV
✔️ Alternative roof areas, outbuildings and ground-mounted options
✔️ Battery and inverter locations
✔️ Suitable heat pump positioning
✔️ Reducing the visual impact of the installation
✔️ The character and setting of the property
✔️ Planning and Listed Building Consent requirements
✔️ System performance and practicality

And you don't have to try and work it all out on your own.

Where planning permission or Listed Building Consent may be required, SA Energy can help you work through the relevant planning applications, providing the system designs, specifications and technical information you may need to support your application.

The application remains yours, but we'll help you understand what information is required from the renewable-energy side and support you through that part of the process.

Sometimes the best technical location isn't the right location for the property. Good design is about finding a solution that considers both.

So, if you've been putting off renewable energy because your home is listed, within a conservation area or has other planning constraints, speak to us before assuming it can't be done.

IT’S FRIDAY… which means only one thing! 🎉

Amber has run out of ideas for the Friday social media post. 😂😂

Apparently, “we install solar panels, batteries and heat pumps” isn't enough every single week…

So instead, here's a little look at the people behind SA Energy.

Yes, we work hard. Yes, running a small business can be stressful. And yes, some weeks definitely test us more than others! 😅

But it’s not ALL hard work and stress.

We all like a giggle, we take the mickey out of each other constantly, and there's normally some sort of banter going on in the office, on site or in the vans. 😂

We think that's important too.

We spend enough time showing you the professional side of SA Energy - the installations, technical knowledge, fault finding and projects - but behind all of that is just a small team of people who genuinely enjoy working together and don't take themselves too seriously.

So today… No sales pitch. No solar facts. No heat pump facts.

Just Happy Friday from the slightly bonkers bunch at SA Energy! 💚😂

❤️ Have you ever wondered what the “SA” in SA Energy actually stands for?

It isn't Solar & Airsource Heatpumps

It's Simon & Amber.

And there's quite a story behind it.

Many moons ago, Simon was a self-employed electrician. Then he was asked to help install a solar PV system, and something clicked.
He loved it.
He learnt how to design solar systems, developed his knowledge and eventually built a successful electrical and solar business from the ground up.

At the time, we were living in a rented house with three children, our youngest was only one, and money certainly wasn't growing on trees!

But the business grew. Eventually, a much larger company approached Simon. He began subcontracting for them and was later offered the opportunity to sell his business.

He accepted.

Simon spent the next nine years working within that company and running the solar side of the business.

But over time, he realised that his own approach to quality, system design and how installations should be carried out was moving in a different direction.

Eventually, he had a difficult decision to make.

Stay somewhere he was no longer happy...

Or walk away and start again.

We sat around the table and talked about our future, our children, the bills and all the frightening practical stuff that comes with starting again.

But ultimately, Amber's answer was simple:

“I'd rather have nothing and see you happy than watch you become someone you're not.”

So Simon left.

And SA Energy — Simon & Amber Energy — was born. ❤️

And then... COVID arrived. Talk about timing! 😂

But strangely, COVID became part of the making of SA Energy.

Simon could continue working safely, often alone on building sites, and while much of the world stopped, he kept going.

Meanwhile, Amber was working in palliative care.

It was incredibly rewarding work, but caring for people through the pandemic eventually took its emotional toll.

One evening Simon simply said:

“Come and work with me. Let's build this together.”

And that's really when SA Energy became a family business.

Eventually, working from home became impossible. We couldn't separate family life from work, so we took another leap and found our first proper office at Fareham Innovation Centre.

One office eventually became two.

The team grew. Our knowledge grew. And SA Energy grew.

Today, Amber is even back studying at university to develop her business knowledge for the next chapter.

And Simon? He's still Simon.

Designer. Electrician. Engineer. Problem solver. Teacher. Boss. And occasionally the man disappearing onto site when someone needs an extra pair of hands! 😂

But through all that growth, one thing hasn't changed.

Why we started again.

We wanted to build a company where we could stand behind the work carrying our name.

Where doing the job properly matters.

Where customers can ask questions.

Where difficult properties aren't automatically dismissed.

And where we're prepared to spend the extra time finding the right solution rather than simply the easiest one.

SA Energy isn't just a company name.

It's our family.

It's our story.

And it's something we're incredibly proud to put our name to.
