Bournemouth Avionics

Bournemouth Avionics Avionics for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Maintenance and upgrades. Plus equipment and storage fac Please check out our Services page for details.

Bournemouth Avionics Ltd was founded in 2004 when the managing director (Brian Cook) decided to break away from his current employer. Based on his long time service within the UK military, (1983 to 1999), the company aimed to provide good quality avionic support for GA as scheduled, unscheduled and installation services. Although now based at Lee On Solent (EGHF), BAL initially started life as a m

obile service, (which can be still offered today) before moving into a workshop at Goodwood Airfield. The recent move from Goodwood September 2012, to Lee On Solent gives BAL a more flexible working environment, taking full advantage of the hard runway and large hard standing areas. Although avionics remain the company’s specialty, the company has now been able to expand the services it offers at Lee On Solent.

First fit, first power-up. ⚡️

This is the initial fit of the panel, including installing the avionics for the first time and carrying out the first power-up.

At this stage, the goal is to get every system powered up, configured and communicating correctly. It’s also where we identify any faults, wiring issues or snags. No matter how carefully you build a panel, there’s almost always something that needs tweaking before the installation is complete.

Once everything has been configured and we’ve worked through any issues, the panel will come back out. The wiring behind it will then be fully dressed, secured and tidied, knowing we shouldn’t need to get back in there again.

Only then is everything reassembled for the final installation.

It’s one of the most satisfying milestones in any avionics upgrade—seeing the panel come to life for the very first time.

Garmin’s new integrated flight display platform is set to change the way modern panels are designed, with selected models capable of combining flight displays, navigation, radios and audio into one system.

We’re excited to say we’ve already booked our first AXIS installation.
