A great start to the Data & AI Hub at TechNExt Festival 2026, hosted at the National Innovation Centre for Data within The Catalyst, Newcastle.
The event has brought together industry leaders, innovators and businesses to explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
We've heard some excellent discussions throughout the day, covering topics including:
• AI governance and adoption lessons - Gentoo Group
• The risks of adopting AI without strong data foundations - Seriös Group
• From data mess to business intelligence: Is your data ready for AI? - GroundSight AI
• Data analytics with generative AI: The hype and reality - National Innovation Centre for Data, Newcastle University
• How SMEs compete in the AI economy -The Rudd Group
• Making buildings smarter with the Web of Things - Krellian
• Turning Feedback into Better Experiences: From Insight to Action CustomerSure
These conversations highlight an important message: successful AI adoption isn't just about implementing new technology. It requires strong data foundations, clear governance, business readiness and a strategic approach to innovation.
For us at CMS, attending events like this is invaluable. As we continue to explore how AI can support our operations, service delivery and future growth, it's important that we learn from those already leading the conversation and understand how these technologies can be implemented effectively and responsibly.
A fantastic event so far, with plenty of valuable insights to take away.
