Econekt was formed as a specialist supplier and installer of Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) construction forms, namely to promote Izodom ICF. Econekt provide consultation and design along with supply and install services to the construction industry – mainly to self-builders and smaller commercial sized projects. Their in-house team, in collaboration with the client and project design team, takes the initial set of architectural drawings - either produced in house or by a third party architect - to find an Econekt structural solution for your project. Design - The Econekt team are able to cater for all elements of the design process, from conceptual architectural drawings through to completed engineering drawings. Supply - Econekt manage the ordering, supply and shipment of all structural elements from the manufacturing facilities throughout the UK and Europe. Installation - Dedicated installation teams that construct the buildings on-site, and site managers who oversee all the works during the entire construction process ensures that each structure is installed to Econekt's exacting standards.

One of the biggest advantages of ICF construction? How quickly you can get a building’s structure in place 🏗️

With ICF, insulated formwork is stacked, reinforced and filled with concrete to create the structural walls of a building. Once the team, materials and site are properly coordinated, progress can be rapid.

On this project, 45m³ of concrete was poured in a single day by a three-person team, completing the ICF wall construction and leaving the wall head ready for the next stage: installing the flat roof joists.

For self-builders, that efficiency can help keep the project moving, reduce time spent on site for certain stages and bring the next phase of construction closer.

The concrete pour is one of the most important stages of an ICF self-build 🏠️⁠

Once the ICF blocks are stacked, reinforced with steel and checked for alignment, concrete is poured into the cavity to form the solid structural core of the wall.⁠
⁠
It’s a stage that needs careful planning and attention to detail. The concrete must be placed in a controlled sequence, monitored throughout to help prevent excessive pressure, movement or blowouts.⁠

Proper compaction is also essential to minimise voids and ensure the concrete fills the cavity correctly.⁠
