Big news at Ellis Crane Hire! What better way to celebrate our 20 year anniversary with Grove cranes than the arrival of our new 80t GMK 4080L. Thanks to Jim and all at Manitowoc for another seamless deal.
We entered the all terrain market in 2005 with a 55t GMK 3055, nearly 20 years after the purchase of our first truck mounted crane in 1986. The crane proved to be solid, versatile and popular and we upgraded, replaced and added the latest versions, most recently in 2024.
In 2015 we saw the need for a larger capacity crane and stepped up a capacity adding a GMK 4080-1. This crane has also proved to be a solid workhorse on a wide variety of projects prompting the thought process for a replacement of “if it’s not broke don’t fix it “!
Some of the key features of the new GMK 4080L are; 2.55m wide carrier, Maxbase outriggers, quick set up time, 60m boom and 15m hydraulic fly jib.
Bottom photos: out with the old and in with the new, equipping the new crane with an assortment of lifting tackle from its predecessor. The original GMK 4080-1 ready for its next chapter, after 10 years working on a vast array of projects, environments and locations the condition of the machine is testament to the operators past and present who have been her custodians and the staff at Ellis Crane Hire.
