The 6 person motley crew (you know who you are 🤣). You’re all assets to your regiment and we’re confident your CO’s will be delighted with your achievements! The banter was also top class! Never heard Charlotte laugh so much whilst teaching 🤣👌🏻

All the very best to the above and enjoy the remainder of your flight training. Calm skies and clear horizons guys 🙏✈️

80,000 PILOTS… AND STILL NOT ENOUGH

The global aviation industry is facing 80,000+ unfilled pilot positions — and this isn’t a future problem.

It’s happening right now.

What’s driving it?
• Post-COVID rebound in air travel demand
• Thousands of early retirements during the pandemic
• Training pipeline delays and limited simulator capacity
• High cost of training — often $80,000–$150,000+ to qualify

And the numbers are stacking up:
• Boeing forecasts 600,000+ new pilots needed by 2042
• Regional airlines hit hardest — losing crews to major carriers
• Some routes already cut due to crew shortages, not demand

Why it matters operationally:
• Fewer available crews = flight cancellations and delays
• Increased pressure on scheduling and rostering
• Longer upgrade times from First Officer to Captain

And here’s the reality most people miss…

Aircraft are ready.

Passengers are ready.

But without pilots…

Nothing moves.

Because aviation doesn’t scale on planes.

It scales on people qualified to fly them.

As nauseating as some of this stuff can be, it’s worth keeping on top of current issues like this. You never know what you might be asked in your Airline Pilot interview 😉

Europe’s green aviation ambitions are facing a growing threat of delay as airlines warn that existing targets for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) uptake may be unrealistic given current supply constraints, high costs and production challenges. Under the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation framework, carriers...
