Aerospace tooling has been part of ATA since day one. We were founded in 1963 specifically to service and supply the aerospace industry. More than 60 years later, we’re still working with the people who manufacture, maintain and repair aircraft, supplying the specialist tooling those jobs demand.

Today our aerospace tooling range covers portable pneumatic tools, riveting equipment, fastener installation tooling, countersinking and spot facing cutters, router cutters and so much more.

Our knowledge in this area has grown even further since Craig Tools joined ATA Engineering Products in 2022.

Craig Tools brought decades of specialist experience supplying tooling and consumables to the aerospace, automotive, military and industrial sectors, along with the Bardolph Aircraft Tools name acquired in 2006.

So while you’ll see plenty of different products and industries on this page, aerospace tooling remains a huge part of who we are.

We’re based in Hemel Hempstead, supplying customers across the UK and internationally, with technical support available when choosing tooling for a particular application.

This is the Crown Norge Alucobond cutter, Art. No. B1-ACM 10,0 / 10-10-50 MP-SUP-8, in action 💥

With aluminium composite material, you need the cutter to do its job cleanly and consistently without creating more work once the panel comes off the machine. Using tooling developed specifically for ACM gives you much better control over that result, particularly when the same quality needs to be repeated across multiple panels.

It’s also a good reminder to be specific when choosing ACM router cutters. “Suitable for aluminium” and “designed for aluminium composite material” are two very different starting points.

Price is the first thing people compare when buying new tools, it probably shouldn’t be…

We’ve seen plenty of situations where a lower-priced tool was exactly the right choice. We’ve also seen expensive tooling blamed for poor results when the real problem was that it wasn’t suited to the application.

The question isn’t whether a tool is premium enough; you need to know if it’s designed for the job you’re asking it to do. Once you start looking at tooling that way, the buying decision becomes much simpler.

A normal hoover just doesn't cut it for combustible dust.

The Stingray HazLoc HEPA Vac is built for environments where hazardous and combustible dust are part of the job, including Hexavalent Chromium, lead and chromate paints, aluminium dust, carbon fibre, ceramic dust, fibreglass and mould.

This is the kind of equipment where the spec matters because the environment demands it. ATEX certification, non-sparking stainless steel construction, bonded conductive components, and H14 HEPA filtration are there for a reason.

Hard plastics show up bad tooling straight away.

The LMT Onsrud 63-724 Plastic 1/4” Single Flute Solid Carbide is designed to leave a smooth finish while pulling chips up and away from the cut, which is exactly what you want when clean edges.

This is where inaccurate equipment gets expensive. A poor cut slows the whole job down. More clean-up, more rejected parts, more time spent reworking something that should have come off the machine properly the first time.
