Last week, we said a very fond farewell to Murray Wetton, who has officially retired after nearly 11 years at Dales.

And because no Murray send-off would be complete without a few loud shirts, the team did their best to dress appropriately for the occasion… although we’re not sure anyone quite managed to outdo Murray himself 👕

Over the past decade, Murray has been a familiar face around Dales and has taken on an impressive mix of challenging projects as a Project Manager. His knowledge, experience, and commitment have been a real asset to Dales, and he’ll be missed by colleagues and customers alike.

Retirement means Murray can finally spend more time enjoying the things he loves -  from volunteering at his local observatory, to time with family and friends, to building LEGO, heading off on cruises and enjoying a well-earned gin (or two)… 🍸

Murray, thank you for everything you’ve brought to Dales over the years. It’s been a pleasure working with you, and we’ll certainly miss having you around - loud shirts and all. Enjoy retirement! 👏

📍 East Midlands Designer Outlet, Derbyshire

It’s always good to revisit a project and see how it’s performing after installation.

Our Managing Directors recent visit to East Midlands Designer Outlet gave us the chance to see our rainwater system in action nearly three years after installation.

The system, involving our Round Rainwater Pipe & Bespoke Gutters, was installed in October 2023 and, after plenty of exposure to the British weather, it continues to look smart and perform reliably.

Thank you to Epzalon for capturing these updated photos and showcasing just how well the installation has stood the test of time.

As much as we love Anthracite Grey (enough to have it in our logo!) it’s always exciting to see projects using bold colours.

The Morewood Centre in Bedford certainly does that, with its striking Feature Portico finished in RAL 6037 Pure Green, creating a vibrant focal point that’s impossible to miss 👀

🎨 Whether you’re looking for a timeless, classic appearance or a unique statement finish, Dales offers an extensive range of colours and finishes to help bring your vision to life.

Last Friday, we celebrated a huge milestone at Dales as we wished Mick Howard a very happy retirement after an incredible 43 years with the company 🙌

Mick joined the business back in December 1983 on a Youth Training Scheme, at a time when the world looked very different. Smart phones were the stuff of science fiction, AutoCAD had only just arrived on the scene, and producing an estimate meant blueprints, a scale rule, a highlighter pen, and a calculator. It’s a world almost unrecognisable today, and Mick lived and worked through every step of the transformations since.

Over the years, Mick built a career as varied as it was impressive. He began as a factory operative before moving into our PPC paint plant. From there, he headed to the former Cossall site, operating press brakes during the plastisol flashings era and eventually becoming Foreman. When Cossall closed, Mick returned to Crompton Road, later joining the estimating department – where many of us came to know him best. Celebrating 40 years with the company in December 2023, Mick became a ‘part of the furniture’ at Dales and a familiar, friendly face for colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, Mick dedicated years to coaching swimming, achieving remarkable success along the way. His talent and commitment even earned him the opportunity to coach at a college in the United States, an opportunity he chose not to pursue so he could remain close to his family. Safe to say, America’s loss was very much our gain.

Over four decades, Mick saw colleagues come and go, technology transform the industry, and the business navigate recessions and booms alike. Through all of it, what never changed was his loyalty, his reliability, and his genuine willingness to help.

Mick, your retirement is richly deserved. From everyone at Dales, thank you for your hard work, your friendship, and for everything you’ve contributed across the last four decades. You will be missed, but we wish you a very long, happy and healthy retirement with plenty of good day’s fishing ahead! 🎣

We’re delighted to share that the Jewry Wall Museum, Leicester - a project we’re proud to have contributed to - has been shortlisted for a UK East Midlands Award in the Heritage category.

The museum, which reopened to the public in July 2025, sits adjacent to one of Britain’s largest surviving Roman walls. Its redevelopment saw the former Vaughan College undergo a full refurbishment, connecting the new interior and the outdoor Roman bathhouse remains.

We designed and manufactured the soffit for the museum’s feature staircase - a striking centrepiece in the heart of the building. Each panel is entirely unique, crafted and assembled to fit the space like a giant 3D puzzle.

The East Midlands awards ceremony takes place on 16th July in Nottingham, with winners going on to represent their region at the UK Grand Final on 22nd October 2026.

A well-deserved nomination for an extraordinary project. Congratulations to all involved, and fingers crossed for July! 🤞

📍 Projects in Progress: Fanshawe Road Redevelopment, Cambridge

Dales are pleased to be involved in the Fanshawe Road redevelopment, also known as ‘City Reach’, which will provide 84 affordable new homes in Cambridge, replacing ageing post‑war buildings that were no longer practical to maintain.

The installation of our Entrance Canopies was completed last month, and our Solar Shading systems are due to be installed as the project progresses.

Special thanks to Roweaver Developments Ltd who snapped these pics, and who have delivered an expert installation on the delivery of the works to date.

🏫 Exciting progress at Canford School!

Seeing a project come to life on site is always rewarding, and the new Sixth Form accomodation block at Canford School in Poole is shaping up brilliantly.

Dales are proud to be supplying aluminium Dormer Cladding and False Chimneys for the project, carefully designed and finished in Interpon Y2217F Steel Bronze to echo the appearance of the existing campus.

Credit to the team at Roweaver Developments Ltd for another quality installation so far and for sending these pics over. Looking forward to seeing the project progress!
