Paul and Toni are delighted with their new home at Matheson Court.

Approaching retirement, the couple were looking to downsize from their four-bedroom family home while still enjoying plenty of space. Their spacious two-bedroom property has given them the room they wanted both upstairs and downstairs - and, after living in a townhouse in recent years, it has ticked every box on their wish list and more.

“The garden is enormous, and the whole plot has been so well thought out,” said Toni. “The KWL Homes team can’t do enough for us. We’ve been here for just over a month, and it felt like home straight away. We love it here.”

Small gaps, big difference for wildlife 🦔

At Matheson Court, KWL Homes has created 27 new-build homes with wildlife in mind.

The development includes hedgehog highways: small, ground-level gaps in garden boundaries that allow hedgehogs to move safely between gardens and nearby green spaces.

Hedgehogs can travel around a mile each night in search of food, shelter and mates. Fences and walls can divide up their habitat, but these simple openings help reconnect it - creating a safe route through the neighbourhood while remaining too small for most pets.

It is a small feature that can make a meaningful difference, helping local wildlife to move, feed and thrive alongside a growing new community.

Our MOT testing facility is open to the general public and offers impartial MOT tests for all vehicle classes we are approved for.

We can test a wide range of vehicles, from motorbikes to motorhomes, and everything in between.

Our Fleet team keeps Hull moving.

Every day, like Jake in the photos, our mechanics, technicians and support staff work behind the scenes to make sure Hull City Council has the vehicles it needs to deliver services across the city - from refuse trucks and gritters to vans and specialist plant. We procure, purchase and maintain all of the Authority’s vehicles and plant, as well as our own KWL fleet of vans, currently looking after around 500 vehicles in total.

Down in the pits and across the workshop, the team handles breakdown and accident recovery, MOTs and compliance testing, and repairs that keep vehicles safe, roadworthy and ready for work.

We also run an independent MOT service for the public, carry out compliance tests for HCC‑licensed private hire vehicles, manage the Council’s fuel bunkers, provide driver training including CPC, and support grounds maintenance with the supply and upkeep of plant assets.

It's exactly this kind of work that keeps services running and the city’s day‑to‑day operations on track.
