We raked out the existing joints and installed Helifix bars to reinforce the structure and prevent further movement.

Finished with lime mortar repointing using exposed aggregates to match the original and keep the building breathable.

Latest chimney restoration completed by the LTR Group🧱✨

This chimney had been failing for a number of years due to weathering and historic movement. Our team fully ground out the defective joints and repointed using 3.5 NHL lime and sand, allowing the brickwork to breathe naturally and remain flexible for decades to come.

Proud to have restored this chimney back to how it once looked nearly 100 years ago — sympathetic workmanship, traditional materials, and long-lasting results.

Currently on site at The Albany on London Road, Leicester, carrying out concrete windowsill restoration on behalf of Butlin Property Services

Water ingress has led to rebar corrosion, expansion, and spalling of the concrete. Our solution involves installing Helifix reinforcement bars to reinstate structural integrity, followed by specialist concrete repairs and colour matching for a durable finish.

🏠 Structural Repairs with the Helifix Helibeam System 🏗️

We were called out to survey a Victorian house in Leicester after structural movement was identified above the windows.

The existing mortar was ground out to 20–25mm, the Helifix bars were installed with the ends returned and drilled into the brickwork, fully secured with resin, and then repointed in traditional lime mortar — allowing the property to breathe.

Phase 4 – Ongoing Oak Window Restoration

As part of our continued restoration works, Phase 4 focuses on the full refurbishment of traditional dormer oak windows — carefully and sympathetically restored by the team at LTR Group.

Rotten oak strips were removed and replaced with life-like new oak to preserve the integrity and aesthetic of the original design. All affected areas were thoroughly treated with specialist woodworm remover to ensure long-term protection.

Where full replacement wasn’t necessary, Wood Repair Care resin was applied to rebuild and stabilise smaller areas of decay. The windows were then carefully sanded, primed, and repainted, providing a durable, long-lasting finish expected to extend their life by another 30 years.

Chimney Sill Restoration Complete 🧱

🏛 Baggrave Hall – Chimney Coping Restoration Complete

The structural phase of works to the chimney copings is now complete.

All Helifix joints and stainless steel bars have been carefully installed to stabilise the stonework without altering its original appearance. Once reinforced, we thoroughly cleaned the area using our DOFF steam-cleaning system, safely removing decades of weathering and biological growth.

Finally, the copings were rebuilt and layered with a lime-based mortar, delivering a seamless and organic finish in keeping with the building’s historic character.
