🏛️ PROJECT UPDATE | ST PAUL’S SQUARE, BIRMINGHAM

Restoration works are progressing well on this historic Grade II listed building in the heart of Birmingham.

We’re now nearing completion of the DOFF removal of approximately 160m² of six layers of non-breathable paint, carefully exposing the original brickwork beneath.

Damaged bricks have now been removed, with replacements to commence once the new bricks have been approved.

🔨 Upcoming restoration works include:

🪟 Timber Window Restoration – Full paint removal, removal of decayed timber, timber splice repairs and specialist Repair Care resin repairs where required.

🧱 Brickwork Restoration – Replacement of damaged bricks using approved materials to maintain the building’s historic character.

🎨 Breathable Paint System – Application of a suitable breathable coating to allow moisture vapour to escape from the masonry.

🏠 Roof Repairs – Repairs to existing roof areas.

🔩 Structural Repairs – Installation of helical ties and anchor ties as part of additional restoration works.

🏗️ Pollard Court – Project Completed! ✅

We’re pleased to announce the successful completion of our refurbishment works across this block of 10 garages.

✔️ Removal of existing asbestos roof sheets
✔️ New OSB roof decking
✔️ New 3-layer torch-on mineral felt flat roofing system to all 10 garages
✔️ New fascia boards and guttering
✔️ Galvanised wall strengthening straps
✔️ Full grind-out and repointing of the rear boundary wall using a traditional sand and lime mortar with exposed aggregate finish

A complete programme of remedial works to strengthen, protect and extend the lifespan of these garages for years to come.

🏗️ Ongoing Project – Pollard Court

LTR Group are currently carrying out a full programme of remedial works to a block of 10 garages at Pollard Court, following recommendations within the surveyor’s report.

Scope of works includes:

• Removal and safe disposal of existing asbestos roof sheets
• New OSB roof decking
• New 3-layer torch-on mineral felt roofing system
• New fascia boards and guttering
• Installation of galvanised strengthening straps internally to reinforce the garage walls
• Full grind-out and repoint using sand and lime mortar with exposed aggregate, restoring strength and integrity to the existing masonry

A comprehensive project bringing these garages back up to standard and extending their serviceable life.

Another heritage project secured. 👊

LTR Group is proud to be restoring a Grade II listed building in St. Paul’s Square, Birmingham.

Structural repair carried out to this window arch.

We raked out the existing joints and installed Helifix bars to reinforce the structure and prevent further movement.

Finished with lime mortar repointing using exposed aggregates to match the original and keep the building breathable.

This is the difference between a proper repair and a temporary patch.

Latest chimney restoration completed by the LTR Group🧱✨

This chimney had been failing for a number of years due to weathering and historic movement. Our team fully ground out the defective joints and repointed using 3.5 NHL lime and sand, allowing the brickwork to breathe naturally and remain flexible for decades to come.

Proud to have restored this chimney back to how it once looked nearly 100 years ago — sympathetic workmanship, traditional materials, and long-lasting results.
